It appears that the hardware is available in the Gen4 (Sony D6802GL) to Process ATSC 3 broadcast signals. Activate the logic to permit scan and viewing of Nextgen broadcasts.
You do realize that the gen 4 is a headless network device.
Currently A3SA doesnât have an approved specification that allows network clients to handle DRM. The current A3SA specification only allows for widevine. Windows, Apple, WebOS, and Tizen donât use widevine. Roku uses widevine but extensions needed for A3SA are unavailable for brightscript.
This A3SA BS has been going on for a number of years and the FCC âmayâ address some of this soon.
If DRM goes away so does ATSC 3.0. NAB needs a new business model for OTA. The FCC may rule that a stations primary channel must be unencrypted leaving others available for pay channels and thus encryption.
The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) proposed a two-phased transition plan to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to end legacy ATSC 1.0 digital television broadcasts. Under this roadmap, the top 55 television markets would sunset ATSC 1.0 by February 2028, and remaining markets would transition to the NextGen TV (ATSC 3.0) standard by February 2030
I actually have owned a hdhomerun 4k 4-tuner for a while. So I probably understand a little about the inâs and outâs of network connected ATSC 3.0 devices.
TBH, weâre really worn out on the whole ATSC 3.0 and DRM debacle and are just fine using what we currently have. Therefore, we canât upvote this.
However, if Tablo were to request a one-time $10-$20 for upgrade to ATSC 3.0, weâd probably participate. We definitely need more info from Tablo on whether or not this is even possible.

Tablo has been working on ATSC 3.0 from at least 2023. But since their products are also targeted for network users I think worked stopped until A3SA had a functional DRM solution.
But the idea tablo just magically unlocks the current tuners or wouldnât come out with a new ATSC 3.0 model priced to recover their R&D investment is just crazy. I know everything is free.

Of the 20 Feature Requests currently posted, none are going to change my user experience or improve my opinion of the product.
They just spent the last two years redeveloping the software to replace proprietary technology they possibly didnât own and they paid royalties on. Not to mention the decaying and outdated platforms it was constructed from. Iâm guessing.
