The new firmware definitely messed up my two tuner legacy Tablo. New app connects old app won’t on some devices. Not being able to remove old records and constant connect and pairing issues. Factory resets don’t seem to be fully taking place on my device. Support has been unable to provide any answers or solutions as of yet. Extremely frustrating and disappointing.
So, I’m getting the notification for updating to 2.2.58 on my PC and Roku/TV. Can I update my PC only to see how this works before updating my Roku/TV?
Thanks
The update is to the Tablo itself.
After the update, you’re only accessing the Tablo with a different app.
You’ll still be able to use the older Legacy app on the Rokus.
I’m seeing the same behavior, and I don’t like it. I want the ability to only see the shows where there are recordings. Displaying the shows when there are no recordings just adds clutter to the interface. This behavior is not an an improvement over the Legacy app.
In general, the Gen4 app on my Roku looks nicer than the Legacy app, but it requires more steps (button presses) to watch a recording than the Legacy app requires. I don’t consider that to be an improvement.
My exact feelings! even thought my HDMI Tablo is not upgradable I do own the 4th generation since last year and wished it was as simple as the legacy app, sometimes you get used to as you used them but I haven’t gotten used to it yet
I’ve had a lot of problems with the firmware upgrade that still haven’t been solved. I’m wondering if the update has broken factory resetting from fully completing? All of my re-setting ups never fully erase my Tablo name (even after renaming it), delete my recordings after plugging my usb drive back in for formatting, and pairing fails on legacy app after the new app is setup on one of my Apple TVs. (Factory reset Apple TV and legacy app works fine until new app is added then it fails to pair or connect). I feel like Tablo support has stopped at this point.
Seems the door has been shut on my issue. No reply and still not corrected.
You can’t roll it back if your unable to access your tablo after the update. That’s what happened to me.
I updated and it seemed to work but it wasn’t. It stopped recording. It would highlight the show in the guide, if you caught the show while it was recording you could rewind it. But the show would not show up in the recent recordings. when the show would end that was it gone for good. I thought I could maybe try to cancel the recordings and re-set the shows to record but the new update wouldn’t let me do that. I couldn’t stop recordings, but that didn’t matter, It wasn’t recording anyway. Also I couldn’t add recordings.
After 2 days of that I figured I’d try shutting it down and restarting it. After re-powering it could no longer be found. It won’t reconnect properly to either a wired or wireless network,
Well it connects with the app while setting up. It gets all the way to the end as if every thing is okay, The tablo is found , my network is found. It gets a steady blue light… then the app say NO TABLO FOUND.
.
I would think f you pressed the right buttons for the right amount of time and got the unit in maintenance mode support could roll it back.
What are you running your Tablo thru, Roku, Apple, Fire etc.?
Running it thru a Roku. It’s running again today Wired Ethernet thru the roku. The new firmware 2.2.58. It still won’t connect thru the new app, the iphone apps new and old. But at least it is recording again. Don’t now why
Thanks, I’m running thru a Roku too and can’t have any bugs right now or lose any recordings I haven’t watched yet. I’ll wait until they work on the bugs!
I would wait a while, there definitely seems to be bugs on their server end.
Here’s an update. Some time yesterday the tablo mysteriously started working again on our roku with the original legacy app. All connections wired Ethernet. The new generation 4 app could still not connect to it." Tablo not found". Neither the legacy Iphone app or new app could connect.
This morning mysteriously the new 4th gen app was connecting to. Both thru the roku and the Iphone app. all seeming to work fine? Only the legacy Iphone app will still not connect.
This all leads me to believe for the last 4 days been a server issue tablo’s back end. Will the legacy app mysteriously start to work again soon?
I’m so glad I never preformed the factory rest!
I haven’t gotten the update for the app yet.
This may seem a side note but it might help you too so I am adding it here.
I run Firesticks and ONN 4K plus devices all wired in my network using the legacy Tablo app. Every once in awhile something will get stuck. e.g. recently I got a recording that would not play and would not delete no matter what I tried including multiple resets and power downs (not a factory reset). This was caused by me screwing up using a manual recording and I did it completely wrong so it was not Tablo’s fault at all.
Then I remembered that my Android 16 Samsung flagship was also running Tablo legacy so I tried that. PURE android 16 very easily removed the recording. My Tablo always responds well to my Android when I am connecting via VPN while not at home. It seems to me that what I will call pure Android has more powerful access or “cleaner” access and it does things none of my other devices can do when shit hits the fan, LOL! If this helps that is why I am posting this. I am not a know it all. Just trying to help.
Tablo support has stopped responding to my ticket. I still haven’t had any resolution to my Tablo box errors after the firmware update. As a Tablo customer for over a decade this is simply unacceptable.
Roku gen 4 app, Channel Rescan states 138 Found, but only 136 channels to select.
Android gen 4 app states 136 & 136.
I deleted my iPhone 4th gen app that I was using with my Legacy Tablo. When I load a fresh copy and tried to configure the app as an existing company, the app kept telling me that there was no Tablo on my Ethernet network. In the mean time, my 4th gen iPad app which I didn’t delete and reload continued to be able to see the Ethernet connected Tablo Legacy and work. My Firestick also considered to see the Tablo as well at 2 Apple TV’s.
Called support and they walked me through everything they had in their scripts to try to connect the app with my Tablo. None of the iPhone tips, worked. I kept getting the message that the app could find no Tablo on the network. Tried to connect via wireless and that function would work either. Support person told me they had no idea what the problem was. So I was told they would have to research the problem and get back to me. Ok.
I went to AI search engines and got other advice and again when through all of those steps. So I decided to nuke the Tablo and do the hard reset. Doing that worked and when connected the app through the iPhone, this time it found the Tablo. I have a Tablo Dual Lite so I have my own external hard drive. I disconnected the hard drive from the Tablo when I did the hard reset. After I got the app working with the Tablo, I plugged into the hard drive. Unfortunately it wiped my drive. So I’ve now set up my ongoing series programming, and what I did lose is recoverable.
However I cannot use the Legacy app on my cell phone or my iPad now because I get the message that the pairing is expired and that I need to connect my Tablo on its home network. So it looks like if you have an iOS device and you remove either app from that device and reload it, the iOS app will no longer be able to use the Legacy Tablo via the Legacy software.
For me it’s not a big issue since I was a beta tester and I pretty much decided that I would go with the new 4th gen software in the future. In testing I didn’t try to remove the apps and reload them on the iOS device. Obviously there is some bug in the new Tablo software that when presented with a new copy of the app, creates conflicts on finding the Tablo on your network.
