New user.
What happens when more than two programs are set to record with a two-tuner box?
I would like to know what I have missed.
Does Tablo attempt to work around this issue if some programs are available later?
You get a ‘Conflict’ notification on the Library page. You can then review your conflicts to decide how to resolve it… In other words, which show to record.
No conflict notification. I searched all the folders under Library.
Is it possible you have a 4 tuner unit?
If you have actually done it, what shows as scheduled?
No I have a two tuner. I tired to schedule three programs at same time. On the third one I got a conflict warning. Good.
But that doesn’t handle conflicts in the future. Recording series of new programs will possibly have a conflict. Be nice to know when a program was NOT recorded because of as conflict.
This is where the conflicts appear on the Library screen. If there is a conflict this is highlighted in red and there will be a number showing how many conflicts.
Tablo will warn you UP FRONT that there’s a recording conflict, but it’s up to you to manually deconflict the programming before airing.
In my app, it shows up as a red line under the show scheduled to be recorded with a conflict.
Then I click on that program and choose how to resolve it (which show not to record).
The shows with no conflict have an orange bar highlighting that block on the live channel menu.
Yes see my earlier posts
Yes, I have seen this as well, but the big red warning when you try to save that program is not the most important to me.
To me I’m more interested when there is a conflict in the future and I didn’t manually cause the issue.
If you are recording several series and only want new shows, it’s possible that conflicts will arise.
I would want to know of these conflict as I might be able to reschedule the missed programs later.
A member suggested that I would get a warning message when there was a conflict. Not seen one.
Another indicated that on his screen there were permeant indicators showing conflicts and failures. A scan of earlier posts will show his attached picture showing these indicators. My screen doesn’t have these indicators. See my attached picture. Below TV screen you can see the temporary location of Tablo and hard drive.
But still even if I had these indicators; nothing tells me what program failed. Knowing there was a failure is good but doesn’t address the full issue. I think an error log is needed.
Also I may need to go with the four-tuner model to lessen the chance of a conflict.
Interesting. I’m curious which streaming device your are using. I am primarily Roku but have used others as well and they all have the Conflicts and Failures indicators.
I can tell you that if a conflict is indicated, you can click on that and it brings you to a page that is something like a log that shows you which shows are in conflict with each other. From there you can select which programs your prefer. If I am not mistaken, by default it prioritizes shows that you have more recently told it to record.
For us, one of two things will happen with our Gen4 Tablo:
- Either we notice the conflict and resolve it manually, or
- The conflicted program does not record and we’re out of luck.
Therefore, we have to closely monitor our programming schedule a couple times per week and make adjustments when necessary.
We’ve not yet seen Conflicts or Failures with our 4-tuner Tablo, but it used to happen often with our 2-tuner OG Legacy Tablo.
I’m on a Samsung TV. YES, click on indicator and see detail. That would be great!
It would be nice if @TabloTV could chime in with some details on how and when this works. This article has some good info on Conflicts, but not Failures.
How to Resolve Recording Conflicts on Your 4th Generation Tablo DVR
Thank you good article
Is one of the 3 recordings on a FAST channel?
Be aware that the dual tuner Tablo can record 2 OTA and 2 FAST programs at the same time totaling 4 simultaneous recordings. Apply the same to the quad for 8 simultaneous recordings.
No they are all OTA programs, but good to know.
Tablo is trying to standardize the interface across platforms, but there are a lot of different ones out there and it takes time.
Hopefully they have a standardized target to shoot for. Otherwise, it ain’t gonna happen.
