Have you tried incognito mode? Because if it succeeds there, then it is an extension causing the issue.
Nope⌠doesnât work in incognito mode either. Iâm starting to think that the Tablo folks may have another as yet undiscovered issue.
Itâs not entirely âa tablo issueâ as many can access http://my.tablotv.com
via Chrome without issue. Some, primarily Windows user I believe, have an issue and no one had any problem with Firefox on any platform. So the web app does or can work.
Yup, no problem with the other browsers. Itâs just an issue with Chrome. Edge and Opera have always worked for me (I donât have Firefox on my computer). And note that before the Tablo folks issued a âfixâ it was working for some and not for others. Itâs possible that I bumped a setting while trying to get Chrome to work before the âfixâ, but I donât think so.
if you look at my post (Chrome unable to access my.tablotv.com - #3) you can disable the protection in chrome via:
- enter this url in your browser:
chrome://flags/#block-insecure-private-network-requests
set the first flag to DISABLE
If you proceed down this path, remember to ENABLE this flag after you verify it works. I donât want to leave a security hole in your browser.
-
relaunch chrome
-
visit h t t p://my.tablotv.com. (remove the spaces)
-
youâll probably have to edit the URL, because youâll see a lock icon in the URL field. it will still say https. change this to h t t p://my.tablotv.com. (again, remove the spaces).
This will show you that it does work with chrome. I just tried it. Sad part is tablo does not plan on changing it for legacy devices (they say itâs a hardware issue). Iâm not sure about that, but regardless, Iâd come up with another solution.
Remember to revisit step 1 of this list and ENABLE this flag so you donât leave a security hole in your browser.
Unfortunately, that didnât work for me⌠still unable to load Tablo in Chrome.
Do you have a screenshot of your browser exhibiting the behavior youâre seeing?
Itâs just an all-white web page, with a spinning blue circle chasing its tail around the Tablo icon on the my.tablotv.com browser tab.
I am seeing the same behavior on a mac. Tablo works fine with safari, but it is a no-go with Chrome, even in incognito mode. I get the white screen with blue circle chasing its tail and my hard drive is being thrashed, which immediately stops when I kill the tablo tab.
Interesting. It works with Brave, which is a variant of Chrome (same render engine, without the Google baggage).
Interestingly, Microsoft Edge works, and it uses the same Chromium engine as Chrome. I suspect that as the latest changes propagate through, Edge will eventually stop working as well. Whatâs not clear to me is why Chrome works for a number of users that have the latest update, but not for others. Maybe @TabloSupport could have another look.
Hi all, just posting here to let you know weâre currently investigating this and will post here and soon as weâve got an update.
thank you, that worked! I had resorted to using Edge for Tablo. The experience once again reminded me how I do not like Edge - so agressive and bloated. No way to remove news (easily anyway) on new tab page. Too bad because there are a couple good features (which of course they probably donât contribute back to Chromium, even after using that as 99% of Edge - MS wrote the 1% that is bloat)
Hi folks -
After further investigation, it looks like this was due to a security change made by Chrome in browser versions 117+.
This requires the user to specifically type the HTTP URL into the browserâs address bar.
Once you do so and re-set your bookmark you should be fine to continue using the web app.
More info here:
FInally⌠I had to turn off the global âAlways use secure connectionâ but was finally able to get it to load. Thanks!
Does Chrome have the ability to add exceptions to the âAlways use secure connection"? That way you can leave that feature on globally but allow Tablo to open without issue. This is a feature of Firefox.
Viewed as a âfeatureâ, Chrome has chrome://flags/ which may be available now⌠and taken away in future versions. That is, they arenât reliable moving forward. There were #flags to circumvent some of these issues⌠they no longer exist.
There is a site setting to allow insecure content, but it didnât solve the problem for me. Ideally, Tablo would allow HTTPS: access.
I recommend using an alternative Chromium browser like Opera or Vivaldi. Iâve been using Opera (which used to have its own proprietary rendering engine) for almost as long as Iâve been using Firefox.
Thatâs not possible. The encryption is a lot of overhead for the DVRs and Iâm not aware of an automated way to issue an SSL certificate for each individual Tablo unit. What would be ideal would be Google not trying to force security on everyone for âthe greater goodâ.
Solution found (for chome browser on Chromebook):
In chrome, go to http://my.tablotv.com
This will possibly send you to https://my.tablotv.com (with a new message telling you to drop the âsâ, but thatâs not enough for my browser).
- click the lock icon to the left of the address
- select âsite settingsâ
- find the âinsecure contentâ set that to ALLOW (for just this site, because we are changing settings only for this site).
I found the setting at
chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=http%3A%2F%2Fmy.tablotv.com
chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.tablotv.com
after the change, be sure to visit the site without the âsâ
