Issues After Updating to 2.2.6

I can’t connect at all to my tablo since 2.2.6…it was hit and miss with 2.2.2 but now I can’t even use it. Very frustrating.

As an update to my latest, new recordings are showing as of today, but I still have about a half dozen from yesterday that are lost to Tablo.

Also, I am 180 opposite of the slowness/loading issues some are seeing. The recordings screen and play after FF are much improved from before. So other than the lost day, 2.2.6 looks good for me.

Roku 3 still at 6.2, whether that makes a difference I can’t tell until it updates to 7.

Don’t you just love spending Saturday mornings messing with technology? It is my job during the week, I’d rather not on the weekend!

Ok guys, new information. As stated above, after the upgrade to 2.2.6 everything when to crap with “Loading Please Wait” messages every 30 seconds or so.

So, a while ago I did a factory reset on the Tablo itself. This seems to have greatly improved the situation. I normally get one “Loading Please Wait” about 15 seconds after starting a new channel, but this so far has been a one time event after the factory default.

I had no recordings, so the factory reset wasn’t a huge deal for me. If you have recordings that you care about I assume that you will lose those after a factory default.

Thought I’d pass along the info.

Cascade of events with these latest updates! Doesn’t look like 2.2.6 will recover the shows lost yesterday, and as well now it does seem like shows I had scheduled to record today did not record, and I am now going through the process of removing the scheduled recordings and re-adding them.

Yet some more time wasted on a Saturday!

Getting ready to trash my Rokus (2 & 3) and stick with Apple TV (ATV). And I had so much hope for this upgrade. I know it must be difficult for Tablo s/w folks to try and accommodate every streaming platform out there but that is the Tablo biz model and they are not getting it done - especially with what they seem to tout as their primary streaming platform Roku. This is just more trouble than it’s worth. I love Tablo and it works on ATV. Ordering new 4th gen ATV next week and that and 3rd gen ATV will be my Tablo interfaces.

Having same issues as others after 2.2.6 upgrade. Long delays using Roku 3 when starting a program and after FF. Only issue I had before was occasional reboot when FF. Thinking about switching to Fire TV.

Yes, I too have noticed that the thumbnails are now missing since we upgraded to 2.2.6 on 10/23/2015. When we click on Recordings, it now takes over 3 minutes for the retrieving information from your Tablo please wait message to disappear!!! I have been a proud owner of a 4-tuner Tablo since January of this year, but this latest firmware update has been horrible to say the least! I have rebooted everything and confirmed that my Roku 3 is up to the latest firmware, which it is saying is 6.2. I do not have v7.x firmware for Roku as an option.

I can add the long delay with FF on recordings to my list of new issues with 2.2.6. Haven’t noticed any missing recordings though. In fact, my wife said after the update a couple of recordings showed up. Still noticing the “loading please wait” message more frequently when viewing live tv.

Looks like I spoke too soon. I thought that the factory default on the Tablo solved the “Loading Please Wait” issue. It did for awhile, but it’s back.

Memory leak maybe?

I have had my tablo for a little over 2 weeks now. All had gone well.

Updated roku app, and new firmware yesterday, and now getting very slow load/buffer times when starting new shows and after FF through commercials… :frowning:

It gave a short buffer pause after FF with 2.2.2, but now much longer… Hope there is a simple way to resolve it soon…

Other than this, very happy with Tablo. Also hoping the “sort by most recent” recordings comes to new Tablo app soon, plus Dolby 5.1.

Right now, I just want a faster load time after FF…

Thanks

  1. What recording quality are you using on the Tablo?
  2. Is your Tablo hard wired to your router?
  3. Is your playback device, which I assume is a Roku, connected via WiFi to your router? Which Roku, exact model number?

Much longer waiting after Fast Forward on Roku since 2.2.6. may be a Tablo programming attempt to reduce or eliminate rebooting. The delay does not occur with iOS players, and did not occur until this latest firmware update.

Putting in some padding / wait time in the handler for Roku fast forward then play sequence would be a very reasonable way to mitigate a ‘race’ or other timing problem. Can’t imagine another reason why this new lengthy delay would be there deliberately, but I would not rule out programming mistakes either.

The Roku 3 has another long term bug with sorting the recordings by “Most Recent”. The oldest programs are missing from the bottom of the list entirely in some cases. Switching to other views reveals the missing recordings. Sloppy programming.

Ironically, my 1 year old Tablo worked better a year ago when I fiirst installed it. Much more solid and responsive.

Many people have reported this. I assume you’re using the Original aka Legacy channel?

Can you also try the Preview channel in your setup? It was updated on Friday to fix things and provide more features.

xxxx cccc xx cc

How can i tell what firmware version I have?

Go to the Tablo App
When it opens, use the up arrow to Tablo
Then you will see a picture of Tablo on the right side
Underneath the picture near the bottom should say:
Channel 2.0 . build 15
Tablo Software 2.2.6

If not, then use your phone or web and Tablo should be offering an update

I used the released Preview Version of the Tablo app on Roku. Just checked the beta and it currently says the same. I assume @TabloTV will have something new for beta sometime this week.

I only experience the very prolonged delay between Fast Forward and Play on the original Tablo channel app. The Preview app which I recently re-installed with the most recent improvements, looks beautiful, with a rich and attractive GUI. It has a short delay between Fast Forward and Play. It too has frequent reboots, doesn’t delete unwanted episodes properly under some circumstances, and is not something I would consider using on a daily basis yet, but teases the possibility of a great Roku app if they EVER figure out how to fix bugs and stabilize it.

Recording quality = 720 HD (5Mbps)
Tablo is wired to a ASUS RT-N66U router
Playback device is a Roku Stick (Roku Player 3500X) Software Version 7.0 Build 9008
Roku is connected via WiFi to router. SNR = 14~15dB
Tablo App is Version 1.13 Build 15

To make sure the bug is understood, I periodically get “loading please wait” and the program backs up and replays the last several second while watching live TV.

It appears to be a Roku/Roku App issue. I don’t see this problem when watching in a Chrome or Safari browser. Haven’t tried from my android devices yet. This issue appears to happen more frequently when watching higher definition content.

I’d be happy to provide more information to anyone at Tablo that will help them resolve this issue.

Perhaps the Roku app isn’t keeping up with the video stream? Would you see this problem on a newer Roku 2 with the faster processor?

Ok, did a good old reboot of the tablo, seems to have solved the slow loading issue… so far…

Got on the treadmill and began using the original Roku channel app with the same Tablo 2.2.6. firmware, and NO LONG PAUSE between fast forward and play ! Absolutely no idea why this Roku 3 should work better than the one we watched last night. I have 5 other Roku 3’s here, 4 connected and 1 spare, so I will look at these units.

Getting close to Halloween…demonic possession or poor software…can’t decide which !
