@269587 - Here are a few of the issues I spoke about that I passed onto support.
Christmas Plus streaming channel didn’t work on iOS or FireTV on 2 Tuner and still doesn’t stream on 4 Tuner. It used to work on fireTV but stopped after the recent firmware updates.
Some streaming channel recordings displayed as “failed to load. Network error occurred.” in library for Apple iOS 17.2.1 (Free Movies Plus - network) and can’t be viewed or deleted but are viewable and can be deleted from both old and new fireTV’s, so it’s strictly an iOS app fix.
One recording so far got this message “Failed to decoded audio” and I clicked “retry” multiple times but repeats the error, so I fast forwarded a few clicks and the movie played fine. Happened on an older 4k firestick with 8gb’s running android OS 7.1.2 but plays fine from new 16gb FireTV running android OS 11 and Apple iOS 17.2.1, so it seems to be an issue with the older 4k firestick OS.
One streaming movie “A Frosty Affair” split into 4 segments but that also happened on the 2 tuner so it’s something that needs to be looked at for a firmware fix.

Ah, yes. Most of these are what the 2-tuners are also experiencing. I’ve found the little trick of bypassing the decoding thing works pretty well… just wish I didn’t always have to do it in 10 second jumps! (Really only crucial when watching Jeopardy!) Annoying to need to do that, and I really don’t understand what causes it. I know that if there’s some signal loss this can happen, but most of the time it’ll just cut that chunk out of the recording. I’m still thinking the second 2.2.48 firmware update has caused quite a few issues. Signal loss, splitting and failing more times than I can count anymore…
Maximum Effort is one of those channels that might record 1/4 of the time, so maybe this is more so something on their end? Glad to see I’m not the only one wagging my finger at my Tablo when I see those split recordings! I remember someone else mentioning issues with the Free Movies Plus station, so again, maybe there are certain issues with particular channels.
Hadn’t tried the Christmas Plus channel until just now. Weak Signal? Oooooookay!? Yeah… IDK. Something’s up w those FAST stations. (I had hoped to collect a list of FAST stations that acted up, but that post went nowhere! shrug I’m still keeping my own list regardless.

@269587 - so far the 4 tuner’s issues are fixable and aren’t show stoppers. Based on what I’ve seen so far the Tablo 4 tuner is well worth it and gets a big thumbs up.
If you have a 2 or 4 tuner and having trouble getting it connected, this community has a lot of very technically savvy users that will do their best to help you overcome and get things running but there are some things only support has the ability to do and support connected to my 2 Tuner Tablo to check some things out when I brought stuff to their attention. Try that with some of these other third party company support teams.
That’s Best Buy being the big box store with little concern on what they promise to their customers. I was shocked I got it earlier than they promised but maybe someone canceled their order and I got lucky.
Now Best Buy is telling me I have to wait until January 26 because that’s the date my order shows and they can’t make any changes to the order. But if I order it today, I can get it by Friday. I can’t re-order since I paid using gift cards. What a useless company.
I have been pondering replacing my constant screw-up #2 4th gen 2-tuner and looking at the BB site every day now.
Last night it said I could have it to my doorstop on the 4th, but this morning it says doorstop on the 2nd, store pickup the 3rd!
I’d really check into that. If you have the finances, and after talking to BB support, maybe order a second one. If number 2 gets here before your first order, cancel the first. In your chat/call with Best Buy, make sure cancellation is an option – although I’m sure you could return it locally regardless.
I haven’t bit the bullet yet on the 4-tuner. One 2-tuner is past its return date and the second still has 2 weeks. It’s hard to buy another one when I’ve already got $180 invested in these two!
The other problem is that I live in Canada, so I need to go to Buffalo, NY to pick it up when it gets there. I’m going there on Saturday to pick up some other things and I thought it would be there by then for sure since it was released on the 15th. I guess I have no option but to wait. The weather can be dicey in January-March so I was hoping I’d get it this month so I wouldn’t have to travel there when there are lots of snowstorms.
But couldn’t you just order the second one and when the first arrives, cancel or modify that order on the 26th? At least you’d supposedly have the new one on Saturday!
I figure it will ship by 26th, and it’s going to a mailbox in the U.S. so then I’d have to go pick it up anyway to return it in time. So it’s probably better to just wait until this one ships so that I can go pick it up during a good weather weekend after that since they’ll hold it for as long as I need.
I wish stupid Best Buy would have just shipped them in the order that orders were received so I wouldn’t have to deal with this hassle.
You should call Best Buy back and get someone else on the phone. Here is there policy on gift card cancellations and refunds. You must have spoken to an employee that’s clueless!
The problem is that they say there’s no way to cancel the order. I followed up one more time and they said that my order has been “allocated” to the Jan 26 shipment from Tablo and there’s nothing they can do. What’s stupid is that if I had ordered a few hours later, I would have been “allocated” to the Dec 29 shipment since it showed that delivery date the same day I ordered. I guess Best Buy is holding my gift card hostage until Jan 26…so stupid.
I really don’t understand BB’s possible shipping dates. Yesterday it was the 2nd, today the 4th, but I just checked again and I can have it Saturday?
I wonder if some of what you’re experiencing with Best Buy’s delivery is because A) You asked to pick up at store so it comes on their trucks whenever it’s available; B) Purchase was in Canada, shipped to US; C) Talking to someone on the wrong end of the situation – Canada vs. US.
I give you credit for your patience, but I’d have ordered the second one anyway. There’s always something to buy from that store anyway, so the gift card would’ve eventually been used. That, or I would’ve spent hours on the phone to the highest manager and even then if nothing changed, would’ve said, “You can go ahead and ship it, but I’m just going to cancel it the day I get the notice anyway.” I know it’s a mess. I call the store 4 miles away and get India or Texas. I’ve had way better success via their online chat. In mere minutes I was credited the difference between what I paid and the new Tablo 2-tuner price. But, to each their own.
I just hope you love it when you are able to pick it up! Even though I’m ready to chuck mine into the Mississippi, I keep pondering that 4-tuner. 2 days from now, huh? Rrrrrriiiiiiigggggghhhhhttttt!
I actually had an American friend who works at Best Buy order it for me, so it shouldn’t have anything to do with Canada and it’s not being picked up at a store. That’s the other reason I didn’t want to cancel it…he told me he was quitting his Best Buy job a couple of weeks ago and asked if I wanted anything, so I got the 4-tuner for $85 lol. I never realized the Best Buy employee discount was so good.
Wow. Completely different circumstance. We’d been trying to help you but from so many wrong angles. 90% of these posts could’ve been avoided if we’d known that. I’d have been a very patient person if my Tablo was about 60% of cost.
@TabloTV had said at one point that all of their inventory was spoken for, including what Best Buy had. Who knows how BB worked it, but I’m sorry you missed being able to pick one up. Have you thought about the 2-tuner? (It doesn’t meet everyone’s needs, so it’s understandable if it’s of no interest to you.)
Thanks I picked up 2 tuner but was thinking about returning for a 4. Have a 4 tuner recast but like the Tablo interface better. Maybe they will be back available soon.
