My 4th gen Tablo is far more glitchy than my Legacy. I am constantly getting failed messages and have to go back and then go past to watch some more. I often end up recording on both Tablos so I can just watch through a show. Are there any plans to address this in an upcoming firmware update?
It could be that the new Gen4 Tablo has more stringent network requirements. Have you performed a network survey to ensure your network is up to snuff? I found that just connecting the new Gen4 Tablo to an existing network isn’t always enough to ensure trouble-free viewing. One really needs to ensure their network is capable - from the router to the streaming device. I did this over the past few months and now we’re viewing without issues.
I would have to agree with wysiwyggin posted above. I ended up buying a new wifi 6E mesh router. This help tremendously. I can’t easily pull cat 6 cable for my tri-level/split house. Also I ended up buying better streaming players with more power and memory that was well worth the cost. My wife and I have never paid for cable and have been OTA folks for over 24 years now. The cost of the Tablo with HD, updated Roku players, and new router(needed a new router anyway) is peanuts compared to what cable cost or even a few months of YouTube-TV. Have had the Tablo 2 tuner for 17 months now. I will admit I felt like a beta tester but I hung in there and glad I did. Please describe in detail your set-up. There are some really knowledgeable forum members to try and help you out.
