Why Does My TV Keep Losing Wi-Fi Connection?

I’ve been having an annoying issue with my TV constantly disconnecting from Wi-Fi while streaming movies or YouTube. Sometimes it reconnects on its own, but other times I have to restart the TV completely.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any simple fixes or settings I should check?

yeah… best thing to do is grab a laptop and download inSSIDer and check the wireless signal where your tv sits. Above -73 is the start of low signal.

You can download smart phone or tablet apps to check the same thing.

This would give you a solid idea how the wireless is splashing in your home.

What kind of WiFi router do you have? Do you know the model number? Unfortunately a lot of routers are either poorly made or configured badly out of the box.

Are you talking about a Tablo or a streaming receiver (roku, firestick, etc) disconnecting or an actual smart TV?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It’s actually a smart TV, not a Roku or Fire Stick. I’m starting to think the issue could be related to either weak signal strength or the router settings because the disconnects mostly happen during streaming.

I’ll definitely try checking the Wi-Fi signal near the TV and see if changing the router position helps. I’m also considering restarting the router more often and checking for TV firmware updates. If anyone has dealt with something similar, did switching to 5GHz or using an Ethernet connection solve the issue for you?

5ghz only works if youre closer to the router. 5ghz doesnt spray through the walls as well, compared 2.4.. IF all else fails, go hardwired.
