I’ve been using my Tablo for a while now, and I love the experience, but I keep running into an issue when trying to set up my antenna. Every time I need to adjust the antenna to get the best signal, I find myself having to check online compass tools or open another app to help with the positioning. It would be so much easier if there was a digital compass integrated directly into the Tablo system to help guide me in the right direction.
Right now, I’m using third-party tools to check the direction I should point my antenna, which can be a hassle. It involves switching between different devices and apps, entering locations, and checking a map. It would be great if Tablo could include a feature that allows me to point my antenna in the optimal direction without needing to leave the Tablo interface.
I was inspired by how online compass tools help in similar situations. For instance, a digital compass (Compas numérique) uses a device’s sensors to determine direction and can be extremely useful when setting up an antenna. I think having a digital compass directly within Tablo would make the process so much smoother. Instead of needing to open another app or website, I could just use Tablo’s interface to find the perfect antenna angle, all in one place.
Would this be something that could be added to Tablo in the future? I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on this!
While I appreciate the thought, I don’t see the necessity when free compass tools are so readily available for Android and iPhone. Are you on the roof, switching back and forth between Tablo and compass to aim your antenna and then check available channels? If so, I could see how it would be helpful.
I think having a setting choice in the Tablo that would send out the tuner signal strength wirelessly to a secondary app you install on a phone or tablet. While you’re pointing the antenna you could see the signal strength the Tablo is receiving.
Compass, no. Yes, to a signal meter with both a live visual display and pinging sound that increases/decreases in frequency as the signal improves/degrades while turning the antenna. This should be in the top 5 on the list of enhancements.
EDIT: I wish @TabloTV would create an enhancement poll for users to rank the top 10 or 20 requested features, with space to add additional feature entries.
