Why always 720 to appletv?

I generally love my TabloTv and have been recommending it to people, though admittedly it seems like it could use some rounding off of the rough corners (slow responses sometimes, etc).

One thing I do wonder is why I always get 720 playback on my appletv? I have no problem getting 1080 direct from any other app, when viewing shows streaming over the internet. It seems like I should be able to get 1080 on my local network?

I have my recordings set for the highest setting, so it’s not that.

Well the highest recording setting is HD 1080 - 10 Mbps, 720p @ 60 fps.

So OTA channels which are 720p will be recorded in their native 720p 60 fps rather than being upscaled to 1080p. As well playback of this channel and recordings from it will also be at 720p 60 fps since that is the intention of this recording quality.

1080i channels will be recorded at 1080p.
