When a show is preempted

I just bought a 4th gen and the first time I ever tried to record a show was last night, Tulsa King. Was supposed to be on from 8 to 9 eastern, but got preempted by Biden speech regarding the current goings on. So first time I try to record something it didn’t work. I guess I’m just out of luck in a situation like this? I don’t see anything in the guide where it’s going to be broadcast again for me to try and record it again.

The entire first season is now streaming on Paramount+, but you must be a subscriber.

Usually if it’s pre-empted it’s on short notice which means the guide providers likely don’t have the time to push out a change, much less have the Tablo guide be updated with this change.

The minute I saw the Biden speech was coming I went into the guide and scheduled the next hour after it to record (Tracker in this case) so I managed to still record Tulsa King.

No easy solution for short notice situations like this.

Wait till Sunday Night Football returns to CBS!!!

The start and stop times are taken from the Program Guide. When you get preempted you’ll get this situation. If you set up your program scheduling for the series (All Episodes/No Duplicates), you’ll pick up the missed episode the first time it replays.

That’s not necessarily true. Your Tablo believes that it correctly recorded the first episode. So the “No Duplicates” will prevent your Tablo from recording it again. If you delete the first recording, hopefully your Tablo will record it again if it is ever rebroadcasted.

I don’t know how the new 4th Gen Tablos handle previous recordings, but it’s possible that it may remember the recordings even after they have been deleted, so again, it’s possible it still won’t automatically record the episode.

The ‘no duplicates’ engine hasn’t changed, so you’re correct @3rdRockOKC. Deleting the episode that was ‘missed’ due to the time shift will be required.

You are correct. I “assumed” that the incorrectly recorded Pilot was manually deleted.

I did manually delete it. But given that it did actually record it, even though the content was wrong, I didn’t know if CBS ever re-airs it if it will re-record it. I’ll find out if it does.

In the past when similar things have happened (especially premieres) the networks have scheduled a re-airing. Keep your eyes peeled.
