Honestly, we subscribe and unsubscribe as needed for shows we enjoy, we don’t maintain ongoing subscriptions to anything but Amazon Prime (which is really just because it “comes” with our Prime shipping membership) and Apple TV.
That, combined with our OTA viewing Tablo is plenty of good programming for us.
Same. We rarely have more than Amazon Prime plus 2 other streaming services. We are on “$50/mth 500mbps fiber internet for life” plus Amazon Prime (annual) plus around $30/mth max for 1-2 other streaming services.
We see no reason to pay one (discontinued) penny more.
It’s not cheap. On the plus side, Disney Hulu and ESPN are bundled for only $10/month through our internet provider. Paramount is $3 a month on a trial.
Given the choice, I’d cut HBO Max right off the bat. Netflix too, even if they have a couple things I like. That’ll save me $20-40 a month if I convince my wife we don’t need those ones year round.
That does seem mighty pricey. We generally keep Netflix (the cheap option with ads) and Prime (which we have for the shipping… so the streaming feels cheap if not free). Right now we also have Starz, because they had a super deal for $24.00 for a year. Plus, we usually have one other service and rotate about every other month; get Apple TV and watch everything we like… cancel and then get AMC+ for a month or two… cancel and get MGM+ (if you like well-written horror, you need to check out From on MGM+)… and so on…
Beyond that, Tubi, Roku TV and others offer great free-with-ads content. And don’t forget Hoopla and Kanopy which offer free content with your local library card. I find lots of movies there that I cannot find anywhere else.
A splitter to ensure we always have OTA TV. And Philo at $28 a month. We occasionally get a month of Apple+, etc to get caught up on binge watching some shows, but they are generally picked up during specials to save money. This year, we snagged two months of Apple for free, so the only real cost this past year was the Philo subscription.
We have used Youtube TV since it started until we got Tablo a couple weeks ago and now it’s been cancelled. We have Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video, but rarely use either of them. Pluto TV, Tubi, and Local Now, but only installed those since we got Tablo. So far we are pretty much only using Tablo.
The only service I consistently subscribe to is YouTube Premium annual plan (not YT TV) to avoid ads. All the others I will get for a month and binge what I haven’t seen then cancel.
