I have an Amazon Basics antenna (non-amplified). It works well (Phila suburbs). I do notice pixelation from time to time. I have it install on my back porch. I am wondering if I could remove the pixelation if I get a external fixed or a external fixed unit that I could place in my attic?
What are you experiences?

I have the highest powered Amazon Basics one in the suburbs of Cincinnati, and I have 99.99% clear picture.
I have a 3 mohu leafs and have used them for a couple of years (so i could cut the cable cord). i find they work very well for me. if you go to gomohu.com you can see a list of their products (they have a attic/outdoor version).
if you want to read reviews on the product, Amazon is a good place to start (you can also buy the mohu leaf on their site).
Smallest Mohu leaf and a home-made VHF dipole antenna (two channels never switched from VHF). Works well on the channels I’m interested in.
I started off with a Clearstream 4 was getting some dropouts on high VHF band. I switched to Denny’s HD stacker with distribution amp. I am 27 miles away from the broadcasting antenna in a valley in the woods. My signal strength is between 78 and 95 out of a possible 95. And I have a 78 on two out of 28 channels

I pickup *most channels. I am able to pull in two additional channels with my old media center PC and when connected directly to my TV but the Tablo flatly refuses to tune them. I guess 12 miles LOS is to far…

I want to get the best reception. My Amazon basics pulls the channels good through wood wall on ground floor. Just have some digital noise from time to time. Thinking putting this in my attic (brick walls) might resolve the digital noise. Just don’t want to spend the money if it won’t make any difference?

I found the higher I raised my antenna the stronger the signal strength (+20) and reduction in pixelation. The experts say “…sometimes a slight change in antenna height can make a big difference.” Moving my antenna to the attic (best thing I ever did), also required an amplifier, as close to the antenna as possible. I’m using GE Attic Mount antenna with Radio Shack amplifier. This set-up was relatively cheap. The majority of the 70+ channels I receive are less than 40 miles distance, with very few obstructions between my location and the towers.

I’m using an attic-mounted Antennas Direct Clearstream 4 (with the universal J-mount)…and an RCA TVPRAMP1R Preamp. I’m about 38 miles to the transmitters in a heavily-wooded area (NC). I’ve never had a problem pulling in all the major networks and a few others as well. I very very rarely see any pixellation.
I have a rca ant751r and rca preamp (tvpramp1r). it’s a great little outdoor antenna. I’m 50 miles away from the towers in Houston and get the major channels at around 80%. this is with nm(db) figures ranging from 38-50.
What @streambird is absolutely true. The higher the better. Brick my still give you troubles through. You lose about 50% signal just by being in the attic, and thats provided its a wood structure. I’d give it a shot though and see how it goes
Laugh if you will but I built my own antenna and it works fantastic mounted in the attic. Definitely not outdoor quality but only costs about $10 to build…less if you have the wire already. I live between 20-30 miles from my towers and I get 100% signal strength on most channels with my worst one being 75% when plugged into my TV directly. And that is without the optional reflector. I don’t have a Tablo yet to show signal strength in the Tablo.

I put a mohu sky antenna in the attic and it works perfectly (54 channels across 21 stations). I had a clearstream originally, but replaced it with this. Currently it feeds a mohu 4 way amp which is connected to two tablos and two tivo roamios. I would definitively recommend.
