I purchased the Tablo today and it does not work with the Windows App !!! It works on my little iPhone screen. This is primitive and I will certainly post on the public internet/web. Is there a IP/URL that I can talk to the Tablo DVR directly? Should I return the device to Amazon? Looks like this company and device may be defuncted.
Did you read the supported devices?
I installed Android player on my Windows laptop. Then download Tablo app and viola I have it on my 2n1 laptop. Ideal maybe not but it works for me. LDPlayer is the one I use. Others here have used Bluestacks.
Yes it would be nice if Tablo had a Windows app but doesn’t so most of us here made it work by emulator.
Maybe tablo doesn’t want to open another can of worms like they did with appletv.
Windows 11 supports MPEG-2, but it’s not enabled by default. You need to install the MPEG-2 Video Extension from the Microsoft Store to enable playback of MPEG-2 files. Older versions of Windows included MPEG-2 support by default,
You obviously do not have a Tablo. MP2’s are irrelevant to this thread. It has to do with the Tablo app on a Windows platform. Please stop polluting this thread. There IS NO TABLO APP for Windows any longer !!!
Yes. But WHY DO THEY HAVE A TABLO APP in Windows APP Store ???
Company appears defunct except for Facebook posts.
It’s for legacy tablo users. ATSC 1.0 is mpeg2. And it’s not clear it even works on all windows OS versions. The legacy transcoded MPEG2 to H.264. The gen 4 is pass through MPEG2. Tablo uses the STB provided video player. Thus the underlying OS needs the MPEG2 codec or tablo would have to spend lots of R&D money and time to implement the same type of solution they did for appletv.
The Tablo Windows app is for the older Tablos (not 4th gen) and yes, it does still work.
Nope. Discover Live…Search Again. Will not find Gen4 on wired network.
It’s not supposed to. This app is branded with the legacy Tablo graphics and is intended for the networked Tablo devices that preceded the current Gen4 devices.
All true…BUT, 4th Gen is a fail without a Windows App. Icons and pics will not fix the facts. Tablo 4gen is not supported on Windows platforms (70% of the market), excluding the little screens (iOS/Android)
You are correct, the Gen4 does not have a native Windows app. They never claimed it did. However, it will work on Windows with an Android emulator. There are several out there. I don’t use Windows, so I can’t tell you which ones are good. I run Linux, and use Waydroid. It works just fine on my PC.
That is completely your opinion and not supported by any facts. The 4th gen Tablo has been out for a few years now without PC support and done quite well. It is meant to mainly run on TV sets either natively or through set-top devices (mobile devices work with limitations).
I do keep my legacy Tablo around mainly for PC use, but I could easily run an Android emulator to make the 4th gen work on it as well.
