Watching program when it skips back then resumes?

I’ve made a few changes to my setup and may have caused this problem, or it may just be a fluke.

We were watching the news last night and a couple of times it “rewound” a few seconds than resumed.

I did install a Channel Master preamp - set at low, could that be the issue?

I am using an 8 year old but seldom used disk drive - a Seagate backup plus slim - which wasn’t causing any issues last week, but perhaps is starting to show it’s age?

Or is it something else.

I’ll problem solve over the next few days - I’m just hoping somene out there had the same issue and identified the culprit. Save me some time.

You didn’t mention if your news was live or recorded.

It was recording as we watched it. I have it set to record all new episodes, but we were watching it live.

Have seen the exact same behavior here while watching live TV. Don’t know what is causing it though.

I purchased a new drive and haven’t had the issue since. I’m guessing that the old drive disconnected and Tablo had some kind of buffering event.

I have seen this a few times. It is just the system recognizing a data speed issue and buffering to compensate. Clearly, the problem was your hard drive and you solved that. It can also be due to a slowdown in your home network.

For me, it happens so rarely that it doesn’t bother me, usually just a few minutes into the start of a program.
