Have this issue when using Roku Ultra. Watching same using iOS app, breaks up and maybe a short freeze but continues to play. Tablo app is 9. Recently updated Tablo firmware. Need to check Roku firmware. Have to return to Home Screen and reload Tablo and resume play
This article may help: Solving Buffering Problems On a 4th Generation Tablo – Tablo.
Given the last post to this thread was a few months ago, we’ll split this off into a new one.
I have a similar issue with the video breaking up or freezing momentarily at exactly the same place on my Gen4 Tablo whether watching a recording on my mobile device or Roku, or ‘live’ from the Tablo. Is this buffering?..or does it have more to do with what’s being recorded to the Tablo? Since the same freeze or break up is occurring at the same time during playback on multiple devices, wouldn’t it be the transcoding or saving of the program where the issue is occurring?
I can play the recording on different devices and the break-ups and freezing happen at the same point across these devices. This leads me to believe it’s inherent in the recording itself.
I would think a Tablo would have a clear line of site to the antenna and would be able to record without regard to the network - the recorded stream from the antenna shouldn’t experience any kind of network buffering because it’s ANTENNA >>> TABLO >>> RECORDED PROGRAM. It doesn’t seem like recording a show should rely at all on a network.
@EddyBear60 - when you watch the recording, do the freezes or break-ups always occur at the same point in the recording across devices?
Maybe I’m way off base - these are my own observations and I’m just trying to apply some logic to this baffling problem. Please chime in with your thoughts on this.
Edit: I’m pretty sure my Legacy Tablo would record a show even when my Internet service or network was interrupted or down. I haven’t tested this with the Gen4 device.
