I’ve installed my 4th gen Tablo yesterday and the experience so far is quite terrible. I had really good experience with the legacy Tablo couple of years ago.
It started with “network error occurred” during initial setup which finally got resolved after a reset.
Today I wanted to rescan channels and that got stuck as well. I tried to resume many times but no success so I tried hard reset and now the setup is stuck on downloading initial guide after channel scan (stuck on 0% indefinitely). (UPDATE - it’s on 1% after 20 minutes, that doesn’t make sense. I am connected via Ethernet and all other devices are working just fine so it’s not an issue with home internet connection).
Terrible experience, thinking of just returning it and looking for alternatives
I must confess, I’d had zero issues with my 4g until last week when Tablo were having issues on their end. At first I thought it was me/the device but it turned out to be neither. Aside from the requirement to maintain an internet connection with the mothership, it’s a pretty ideal device to replace my Amazon Recast.
In October of 2023 I tried setup on a samsung tablet running android 12. I was unable to force it to setup. Unknown error collecting SSID’s. I have lots of devices and apps and tablo is the only one that wouldn’t setup.
I also don’t think they ever added edit SSID to the tablet app. I guess they think users are stupid enough to continually reset their devices.
Sorry you’re running into this. Once set up, it’s usually best to let it go for a day or two to run a couple overnight Guide updates. It’s really only necessary to rescan channels once per quarter or so, or if you want to force an update before or after channel changes.
Let it go for a day or two to see if it straightens itself out.
Same. Just got my first yesterday and this thing has been failure after failure in setup plugged in via Ethernet. The app constantly crashes, doesn’t show any information, etc. tried several resets, reinstalls of app, etc. a very lousy consumer experience in this day and age. I work in IT, so I totally understand things can be quietly, etc but this has to be the worst onboarding I’ve seen in a while.
This is quite the . Ya, there’s got to be underlying system issues for all these user problems. I truly feel bad, especially for those trying to set up their systems for the first (or second, or third, or…) time.
I’m trying to set up a Tablo for my father as a Christmas present, and I keep getting an error (“Failed to load. A network error occurred.”) when I enter the zip code? I’m leaving town tomorrow and my father is not tech-savvy enough to do this himself. Do we have any fixes beside rebooting (which I’ve been doing) and hoping?
There have been some technical problems the past few days. Some regarding the Guide Service Updates. It seems to have had downstream negative impacts in various areas.
What I had to do was to uninstall/reinstall the apps and use a nearby zip code that was different than the one I had used previously.
This seems to have resolved my issues. YMMV.
One important thing is I installed on Android mobile first before any other devices. Make sure that ‘location’ is turned on before you start. Make sure that the Android mobile is on the same network as the Tablo Gen4. No guest or subnets.
