Any tips on getting firestick, roku, or smart Samsung tv to use Tablo? I’m thinking my Eero is causing the problem. At times it takes forever to even get the app on phone set up and working. When it does, usually only the phone works. Then, randomly, the firestick or roku or Samsung randomly works. Great when it works, frustrating when it doesn’t.
And yes, I use wifi.
I use Eero Pro 6Es and my Tablos (both legacy quad and G4) work fine.
I suggest creating a reservation for the Tablo in the eero app so it will always get the same IP address.
All of my Roku devices (except my Ultra 4800 series) don’t support DFS channels so if your eero uses a DFS channel for the 5Ghz band they will connect to the 2.4Ghz band. I had eero support disable DFS in my system since a user cannot disable it. Unfortunately, this also disabled Client Steering but since most of my wireless devices don’t move (IoT devices and the like) it doesn’t bother me.
I also use an Eero router with a couple of mesh nodes. I do not have any trouble, and have not customized any settings on the network. If I all possible, I do recommend at least having the Tablo puck connected to the network via Ethernet. WiFi is usually okay for the rest as long as the distances are okay. If you could, try moving your TV/streaming device closer to the router, if only temporarily, to see if it connects more reliably.
Also, and I know this sound a bit crazy, it has been my experience that the Tablo needs to ‘break in.’ It will start off finicky, forcing you to reconnect, or perform resets… but after a week or so it seems to settle down. I have had mine for just about a year now and have very few troubles.
You have to confirm that the wireless link between the nodes are good. Even tho the Eero doesn’t show you any good details on the link.
You should try to figure it out on your own… Download WiFi Analyzer on your android phone and that will show you the signal splashing across your home. Even Acrylic Wireless Analyzer on your laptop -73 on either band (2.4 or 5) is the start of low signal.
Walk around your home, especially where the Eero nodes are at and see what the general signal is.
This will make a world of difference. You should be in the -40 to -60 range for solid signal. On either band,.
Thanks to those who posted. I figured out the best solution is to move my router and plug directly with an ethernet cable. Surprise, it works on everything.
