Using G4 Tablo with Plex (and Jellyfin)

I have been successful in getting the G4 Tablo to work with my Plex and Jellyfin servers. It’s with a tool/service I searched the web for and found on GitHub called Tablo2Plex. I have mine setup in a docker container on my NAS. It emulates an HDHR.

On Plex it works to view and to record shows from the OTA channels in the channel lineup on your Tablo. I have already tested 1 show watching and recording.

On Jellyfin it works to view all the channels from your Tablo (including the FAST channels) and record from the OTA channels. You do have to configure your own guide source with Jellyfin however. The FAST channels do not come in the guide.

I’m no expert with this but the creator(s) are really helpful. They assisted me in some of the settings needed to get it working.

If you’re interested, give it a shot!

So you use Plex and Jelly fin together OR these two seperate use cases?

Bro adding the Tablo to my Plex Server will be a killer combo.

I have a Plex and a Jellyfin server running in two separate containers. Both see the tablo2plex device. Of course it doesn’t mean that both could try to use all 4 tuners at the same time because there would be conflicts. I just set it up in Jellyfin just to see if it would work since the tablo2plex is an HDHR emulator/proxy.

Is there a cost or free sub for this?

@wysiwyggin if you know of a free way to get XMLTV files you can use that. The other option is to use Schedules Direct, a non-profit, and that costs $35 a year. There is no auto-renewal option. You can get an account for 7 days for free as a trial with no commitment.

I tried to setup an XMLTV service with another docker container but that was more complicated than I wanted. I haven’t paid yet but probably will.

I run a Jellyfin server on a Pi5. I may need to look into this when I have time to tinker.

Thanks for the tip.
