I just bought the quad that has the 1tb storage and I also bought a hard drive to attach. In setting up my device, I could not get my device to recognize my hard drive, and my understanding is that it has to do with the on board memory. Am I able to remove the on board memory, or am I unable to supplement or use other storage?

For the Tablo QUAD 1TB DVR, its internal SATA drive must be removed before adding new compatible storage. Users can choose to replace the internal drive with any other compatible 2.5” 7-9mm height SATA drive, or connect any compatible portable external hard drive via USB.

As explained above, the “onboard memory” is not on board, it’s just an internal hard drive.
