I have a sound bar hooked up to my TV via optical audio cable.  I can easily set my volume to output from the soundbar, but can’t control with my TV remote.  I’d like to get down to 1 remote for ease of use.  I have a chromecast hooked up to this TV.


TV: Samsung
Soundbar: Vizio

It seems that I need to find a universal remote that can have the volume “locked on another programmed device” or something similar.  I don’t have any other components that I use often on this TV (DVD player), so I don’t want to spend $70 on a logitech.

Any suggestions?

The Harmony Remotes are considered the best IMO.

Check this one out. It’s no harmony, but may suit your purposes. It has some nice features for its price tag.

I understand that harmony remotes are awesome, but I only have two devices I want to control. Very simple.

You may want to check and see if you have any Radio Shacks by you going out of business. I picked up a Harmony 650 for 50% off. I got it for $40.00 dollars. Can’t beat that price & it has to be one of the best remotes I have ever had.
