TV Show Season Disappeared

I just received a new Tablo Gen 4 (4 tuner) this past Friday. Set up was easy, and I’m just learning how it functions. I have the lastest firmware, and access the Tablo via a FireStick, and a FireCube. I have been experiencing issues with the Tablo responding to the Tablo app, but clearing the app data and cache seems to clear up the issues every time. I’m still learning the quirks.

I am currently using the internal storage until my 4TB drive shows up later today. Over the weekend, my wife recorded a TV show that had 3 seasons with about 8 episodes for each season. She started watching season 1 successfully completing viewing the first 5 episodes. She deleted the episodes as she completed watching them. However, when checking the space available on the internal drive last night, it was around 20% available, and I noticed it jumped up to 48% available. I didn’t notice what happened right away, but I saw that there was now only 10 episodes left of the TV show when there was 18. I looked in the recordings and season 2 is gone while the rest of season 1 and all of season 3 is there. This is extremely odd, and I know that neither one of us could have deleted the shows. Is this some sort of known issue??

It sounds like you have your Tablo set to automatically delete programs as needed to free up space.

Check the following:

  • In Settings, under Storage, check to see if “Auto-Delete Recordings” is set to ON.
  • In Library > TV Shows > (Show_Name), click on “Series Recording Options” and look at what it has for “Keep”.

If you want to keep automatic deletion on for most programs but keep all of one, the second is the one you would need to have on.

Sorry that this has happened to you, I believe auto-deletion is on by default.

Thank you. I’ve already changed those settings. I didn’t think I’d need to turn off Auto-Delete as I wasn’t really at risk of running out of space. I’m still in testing mode to get to learn the Tablo, so no recordings are precious to me except the marathon run of this show my wife recorded. It’s unfortunate that it happened, and odd that the Tablo would have deleted that entire season. I also know for a fact that season was not the oldest recordings in the library.
