I am interested in buying a Tablo, I want to know why one would need a 4 tuner box over a 2 tuner box. Please advise.

How many things do you want to be able record or watch live at the same time?
I bought the 4 tuner Tablo as on busy recording nights I may have 3 things recording at the same time and that leaves a tuner that can be used for live viewing on another device as well.

The simple answer is you need a tuner for each TV (or any other viewing device) that will be viewed simultaneously plus one for each recording that could also be taking place at the same time.
Only if they’re watching live TV. Not recordings.
