Trying to get squeeeeak out ONE more channel

Hello Group

I’m about 10 miles south of the TV towers in downtown Chicago, so for the most part my inability to put an antenna outside isn’t a hindrance. Except for one (OK maybe two but I’m a realist, I’m not expecting the 400w infomercial channel on RF channel 4/Virtual 13), a 15kW channel on RF 25/Virtual 22. My TV receives it, so I suspect the signal is just on the edge. But I can’t seem to get the Tablo to decode it. I’ve tried a few preamps, but they don’t help and I even lose a few channels in my scan (I suspect overload). I’ve switched antennas from a Winegard Flatwave to an RCA 705 (which looks kinda funny in the living room) and although it improves signal on my previously marginal ones, still no 22 (and I’ve tried it in several directions). Other considerations - cell tower 1/4 mile away and 150w college FM station a mile away.

So I’m wondering how to squeeze out that last channel…

  • Spend some money on decent preamp that doesn’t overload so easily?
  • Invest in an LTE filter?
  • Invest in an FM trap?

Or does anyone make a LOW gain preamp? I suspect if my problem is signal level I just need a few dB…

Thanks
