Tivo or Roku better to use?

I have Tablo (4 tuner) is Tivo or Roku better to get for a TV which does not support the Tablo app?
Thanks.

Tivo is another brand of DVR. You can get a Roku, GoogleTv, FireTv, or AppleTv (still in beta) to use a 4th gen Tablo on a TV set.

I use both a Roku and the latest Walmart Onn GoogleTv box, and both have worked well for me.

What are the advantages of Onn versus Roku?

Thanks.

While I have never tried one myself, from what I have read here, the onn streaming device has one of the best reputations for stability with Tablo. If I start having trouble with my Roku, that is probably what I will get to replace it.

The onn devices are a cheaper alternative to other Android STBs. Not only are they cheap ($15 for HD, $20 for 4k, $50 for Pro) they work extremely well as a fully enabled GoogleTV device.

I’ve had four different iterations of the device (the original 2k stick, original 4k box, newest 2k stick and newest 4k box). Even the stick from 2+ years ago still works fantastically well with the TabloTV app. (All devices still work great, but I’ve since donated all except for the latest 2k stick I chose to keep for myself.)

A quick search will give you the product specs for all three. In any case, I find it’s always wise to have some sort of backup system in place. Considering there seems to be a ton of issues with Roku and their RokuOS 14, you really can’t go wrong. Just keep in mind this is an android device.

Thanks.

Thanks, I see Roku comes with “Live” channels" I don’t know if those are additional ones. Sounds like the ONN is the way to go.

Roku has a the roku channel and the live channels which are like pluto with around 300 FAST channels. With ONN you are betting that the tablo Roku app never gets better. I’m still using 11 year old Roku ultra’s with my gen 4. But I only buy top of the line STB models.

You can download the Roku channel, bro. It’s the same as what is on Roku (if not less confusing because Roku has 3…)

Edit: Most devices come with their own hoard of free channels, including GoogleTV products. But OC you can always add Plex, the Roku Channel, Pluto, etc. And I’m sure you’re not surprised that most of the free channels are on multiple services.

The roku channel use to be separate from Roku live channels. And I think it’s better then pluto.

I agree, less and shorter commercials on Roku than Pluto.

For the channel overlap for FAST channels.

Roku Live TV has over 400 as does feevee. While pluto only has 250.
