I see a sorta related post that addresses to my issue, almost, but dont see a resolution?
My tcl has a live pause feature when using live tv,not in tablo then. Live does not work with roku channels, but it tells you that never has. When using the tablo app live ,watching any channel will freeze the picture and continue sound. Takes it a few minutes to do it, it will do a library show that way also. I have another tv with a roku module attached and does not do any of these problems only the tcl tv. I removed the flash drive from the tcl but gave a message saying tablo would not work without?
Anyone similar with situation? I have done a few tablo resets when it does this and got out of the app on the tcl too but no better and same situations.
Back in April I submitted a post including the following:
I’ve also observed the exact problem you mentioned regarding the picture freezing with the sound continuing and the status bar at the end of the show. In my case the sound eventually also stops after a couple minutes. This occurs on my TCL Roku TV (TCL model 32S327 using Roku model 8116X ). When I place a Roku Streaming Stick+ (model 3810RW or 3810X) into an HDMI connector on that same TV, and switch the TV input to the stick, the problem disappears. I have another TV that isn’t a TCL Roku TV. When I use a Roku stick on that TV the problem doesn’t exist.
Although I’ve used a flash drive, long ago, in the TCL USB port to provide a “program pause” on live programs using the TV’s antenna, I no longer use the flash drive, and have no problems (other than the one mentioned above) when using the Tablo.
How did you figure that out? Sharp troubleshooting!
I not sure about, guess they sell those roku sticks that plugs into the hdmi port? What else do you do so it ignores the streaming ,usb, port and looks at it? I assume you lose live pause on the tv itself?
I’ve used a few different Roku Streaming sticks, as well as the Onn Google TV Streaming Box, while trying to fix/troubleshoot various Roku/Tablo bugs. Other than the bug mentioned above with the TCL Roku TV (without any sticks) all significant bugs were corrected by either Roku and/or Tablo software updates and some Roku system setting changes. I am still using a Roku streaming stick, until I notice a software fix that eliminates this remaining bug.
I actually use the TCL Roku TV USB port as the power source for the streaming stick, although that may not always be desirable. I no longer have any antenna connected to the TV and use Tablo instead. It provides the program pause feature, as well as many other features. If you don’t have a flash drive in the TCL Roku TV USB port it should disable its built-in live TV pause feature (or you may need to go through the live tv channel scanning and setup to disable it).
I forget what message I got when I took out the flash drive. Something about Tablo would not work. My g.f. is using tablo now, on it looking for her movies so later I will take a pic of that message. Tablo had a fix for the kitchen set for no live tv when i first got the tablo. It fixed the problem, along lines of disabling something in tv setup sound.
