Youā€™re not alone. I have a four-tuner Gen 4. It took a little tweaking to get it set up and dialed in, but now the stupid thing just worksā€¦ I watch live TV, no problem. I program recordings and watch them, no problem. My wife watches her shows, no problem.

I lived through the Roku OS14 debacle (for which most of my viewing stations continued to work), and a few other glitches. I will admit I keep a running wish list of features in my head. But, after about eight months, I just watch TV without thinking about it and I have saved about $1200.00 having dumped DirecTV.

Iā€™m loving my Tablo!

@KGBnut
can i ask what device are you using now still the roku ?

Mine is now working well after I installed a GE Quadcore antenna on my home. It pulls in all the channels perfectly as far as I can tell. I literally just finished the antenna installation.

@ryoder
im within 10 miles of most of my stations so a regular inside antenna is fine for me glad you got it working :grinning:

We have some lingering issues with the Gen4 device - while watching ā€˜liveā€™ TV, the picture freezes and we get an occasional blue circle for 2-3-4 seconds, then it comes back. Happens maybe every 10-20 minutes.

We also experience looong startup times - thumbnails not loading for a minute or more, You wouldnā€™t think this would be a problem, but the device is useless until itā€™s fully started.

Other than these, we havenā€™t had many issues and are getting our use of of it. Wife is happy.

Glad your :tv: is working too.

@wysiwyggin
what kind of router do you have and are you wifi or ethernet and how many devices are on your network ?

I have an Orbi AC4200 (RBR750) with 3 satellites and 32-36 devices connected at any one time. I use Ethernet for OG and Gen4 TabloTVs and 5GHz Wifi6 for streaming devices (FireTV Stick Max and Roku Ultra).

I also have a static IP from my fiber ISP, which can make a difference, and I use Cloudflare for DNS.

does your router have QOS quality of service ? because even with a lot of bandwidth it sounds like your tablo is struggling for priority on your network with QOS you can set priorities for certain devices i have a netgear nighthawk wifi 6 router and i had to set priorties to my devises

Sadly, no QoS setting. Didnā€™t know how much Iā€™d need it when I bought it.

Well, Netgear rolled out an IoT SSID or scope (is that the right word?) on its Wifi to go along with the Guest SSID. I have it set to 2.4 GHz and WPS2 and I have all my ā€˜IoTā€™ type devices (Sense, Tstat, Ring, etc.) on that. Most laptops and phones are Wifi6 while high bandwidth devices (Sonos, 9 camera NVR, Tablo) are on Ethernet. I think Iā€™m just maxā€™d out and need an upgraded system. Maybe a small Ubiquty system would work.

iam running my tablo on 5grz wifi chanel 157 set at highest priority i have all my smart devices on the 2.4
edit oh and i have 15 devices all running on a 100mbit cable internet

I am seeing the same problem with only 1 channel on my Tablo, channel 2. The thing is I watched and recorded the show.

Watching live, it would every minute or so it wild stutter for 2 to 5 seconds, but if I did a playback of the recording, it worked perfectly.

Also notice that my Roku Express is slower to start up than my Roku Ultra.

It took me a while but my Gen 4 is working great now. I originally had issues, I think, because I had recordings set to ā€œany channelā€ because I really did not know local call signs. Navigation is slow compared to my old Fire Recast but the picture quality is far superior so maybe that just takes more processing time. I donā€™t like change so relearning an O/S is not fun but Iā€™m getting it now.

Like @Gearcrasher, Iā€™ve had nothing but smooth sailing after a choppy start due to Tabloā€™s hiccups at the end of January 2025. One has to remember that the problems posted on this forum are by a handful of users compared to the thousands who are having a good experience. And itā€™s obviously in Tabloā€™s interest to address technical problems so that we happy customers can become even more ardent cheerleaders.
