I first was getting an odd error. So I figured on rebooting the device and then it just got stuck where it blinks and never stops and don’t respond. If I unplug the HD it will boot up. So I thought maybe the HD was bad, but I plug the HD into my computer and the DATA on the drive is good. I even did a check for any corruptions on the drive which was easy as I use linux as my OS and the portioning if I recall is an ext4. Anyone else have this issue?
SOLVED
Turns out even though the Ext HD I have is selfpowered. The issue was the power supply to the Tablo. I found a power supply I had that was same voltage plug etc and it now works correctly again. Possibly not enough power to process the HD or to power the USB itself who knows. I will update this if it quits immediately working again.
Thank you for the quick reply. It is a self powered drive I purchased a case and put in an enterprise grade drive. It has worked over a year before this. I notice some reports on the Gen3 units where the power supply was wearing out and not allowing the USB port to work. I am wondering maybe that is the problem I am having is the power supply and not the unit itself. I have a new Gen4 coming to see what happens with it when I plug it into the drive.
You cannot move you existing HD to a new Tablo and retain the saved content (one of the sad flaws in the Tablo). The drive is somehow “paired” to its original device. I seem to remember it prompts you to reformat the drive.
Good to know I just found a compatible power supply and it works came right up. So apparently its the power supply that is bad and not the Tablo unit itself.
