I started the firmware update process and it’s been stuck on “Downloading” for about 30 minutes. I watched the progress bar complete before it got stuck. Don’t know what to do, I hope they didn’t brick my Tablo!
Their systems are all screwed up today.
DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING UNTIL THEY GET IT FIXED!
Go to another device, try to connect, and see if it’s done installing the new release.
The firmware installs on the Tablo Gen4 device. Access to other apps on other devices are not useful.
The instructions stated to not do anything during the update. This is imperative!
It says nothing about download restrictions
So reboot or power cycle should be ok. I would confirm that with @TabloEngineering @TabloTV @TabloSupport
Having a stuck firmware update screen isn’t all that unusual even on legacy. The instructions say don’t unplug the tablo device
Ok. “Do not unplug during the update”. Like I said.
This issue has reared it’s ugly head again with the most recent firmware update 2.2.58
I’m currently running on 2.2.56
Waiting for a resolve to this issue so not to be bothered by the message everytime access my Quad Gen4 Tablo
I have tried what all have suggested here in this thread.
Except ignoring it which is not an option as any improvement to current state would be gladly welcomed.
I would add after trying the update from the third host in my home the Gen4 device became brain dead with no access to recorded shows.
The menu showed zero recordings and the light was flashing Blue constantly.
I let it go for hours from all 3 devices all with same result every time I access the device no matter the host I’m confronted with a needs update message with 3 options LATER UPDATE or REFRESH
My recordings didn’t return until I unplugged and restarted the device.
Upon restart flashed blue three or four times before turning white then off completely which is the way I have it set in setting,
All recordings magically reappeared after this manual restart.
Edit:
I forgot to mention the Devices I tried the update from
Roku Ultra,
LG TV,
Hisense TV
Roku TV
Hi @E_Wayne_Yowell ,
Would you contact Tablo Support? They should be able to help.
Update:
I decided to hit the refresh tab before clicking update and that did the trick I have updated to 2.2.58
That’s good to hear.
Sad to report the update has brick the device and its Out of warranty. Thought it may be the power supply so I tried a spare I have here but notta. Bought in Nov 2024. I have a legacy device that still works but looks like I will be moving on from Tablo if this is what I can expect from the newer devices.
That stinks. I think the only option remaining, short of a replacement, is to use the Legacy device with the Gen4 app. Not ideal, but maybe workable.
You can contact customer service and see if they will do anything for customer satisfaction. Others have been successful.
