Always a good idea to have a backup antenna hooked up directly to the TV to use the TV tuner in situations like this…this is after the NFL game was over…1/26/24 @ 20:08 mountain time…I would like to have Tablo support comment/fix on this issue please…
I’m still having issues. That guide won’t load, I’m having trouble getting it to show live TV as well. It’s really not usable.
Very frustrating that the guide data server is so slow. Sometimes, if the guide partially loads you can select the channel instead of the show and still watch. Tonight, the guide wasn’t loading at all.
I set the game to record and it got everything. I started watching it 20 minutes after the game started.
Same issue. Spinning circle of death trying to load guide data. Same problem when trying to access a previously recorded show even - what live data do you need to fetch in order to show me previously recorded content!?
This clearly seems like a Tablo server side problem. It happens a lot during prime viewing hours, as others have noted with the NFL. Tablo really needs to re-code their stuff to not rely on so many server side calls.
I am curious what front end you were using?
I recently picked up a Onn Google streamer, and it worked fine this weekend, so I am wondering if the Roku app hasn’t been updated ( it was always unstable on everything but the built in on a TCL TV ).
I was running into an issue with the NFL+ being crap on Roku as well, so I decided to try a different streaming device, and while I am still in the honeymoon with it, even the cheap Onn box seems pretty good.
I got killed on opening weekend ( the Sept. 8th outage ), so I know how frustrating this can be.
I was using Google TV on a Hisense TV. The issue was short-lived for me this time. I launched Tablo right at kickoff time ~ 6:25pm EST. My guess is lots of people did the same and the Tablo servers couldn’t handle the load.
I was able to successfully launch Tablo and tune to the game within 10 minutes or so. That’s a huge improvement over the Week 1 debacle in September, but still something that shouldn’t happen.
I’m sure the server demand at kickoff time for the Super Bowl will dwarf yesterday.
Same. So annoying!
Ditto.
Even more annoying given that they did a press release claiming they were going to do this in September, and even the Tablo support account claimed this was a top priority in December, and yet the problem seems to still persist.
If they don’t get it sorted out, the Scripps / Tablo folks will have killed a potentially great device, mostly because they didn’t bother to pay a few good software engineers to make and/or fix their horrible front end apps to be fault tolerant.
Or many people have learned to give up quickly, and move on. That September outage was for the entire afternoon NFL schedule on opening weekend.
On the ONN Google TV box, I was able to get to the library and see things that were recorded. That did not work on the Roku app, which is way worse than the Android one.
Agreed, and they claimed they were going to do that in early September, but @TabloTV is not very good at follow through.
They even managed to get a press release together for it, but still the issues persist.
My Tablo was very slow loading up but it did and I was able to watch the AFC game in its entirety
I dont mind the server outages versus no monthly cost on my end… I will take a random server outage (it will still record) over my former $150 month TV bill.
Something is still going wrong. I can’t pull up info on anything on my Tablo. The Shows, Movies and News tabs all display nothing but a spinning throbber. It eventually times out with a “Failed to load. A network error occurred” error.
Tablo FW 2.2.54
Apple TV app 1.6.0 (14)
tvOS 18.3
Same here. On Firetv 2nd gen
I almost never have problems connecting, but about an hour ago I couldn’t use my Tablo for at least 20 minutes. It may have been as long as an hour.
My gen4 is down again. I’m glad that my legacy quad is working. I’m also glad that my wife loves the legacy and hasn’t even looked at the gen 4.
Tablo is still very slow today. They claim they are back to normal. If this is normal, I wonder what it is going to be like during the Super Bowl. Fortunately the teams I care about didn’t make it so I don’t really care about the game.
Agreed… not fixed. It wouldn’t load, I restarted everything, then it treated me like I was a first time user. Restart, restart, FINALLY it worked. I know the old Tablo software was pretty plain, but at least it mostly worked. This buggy gen 4 software mostly doesn’t, at least in comparison. I’m hoping the offline mode will take care of some of this, but I’m not optimistic.
I really wish there was an alternative but I hear Sling and Plex have their own issues. I’m afraid at some time in the future I’ll lose all shows. How about something to protect us from that failure in the future?
Everybody, you can get the Super Bowl in whatever version of 4K they call it on Tubi. Probably upscaled 1080P. Might wanna go that route since off-line is not ready.
