I am new to Tablo. About 1 week now. I want to record 1 episode of the Ch 2 news everyday at 6pm. But no matter how I set the recording, it still records the news at 5:30, 6 and 11pm. I only want the 6pm broadcast. Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to the Community.
First, clear the other recordings schedule. Then, I think you can just go to the Live grid, click the program in the one time slot you want to record, and click New under “Record Episodes in the Series”. This seems to be working for me on my phone.
Hi @jkossrt,
See if your series recording is set to all or new. If it’s set to all, change it to new.
I have already tried that. I have selected new and it still records every epiode of the news. I have had no issues setting up other recordings for other programs. The only work around I have found is to record each episode manually.
That’s interesting. When you look at the Live grid, do the other News shows also have the orange underline?..or just the one. I’m able to just select the one and record New, and only the selected News program is recorded.
Make sure you first remove all recording schedules for the news and there are no orange underlines for your news programs. I think this is what’s keeping it from setting up how you want.
I should note that we have a sister station 27-4 that airs the same news at the same time - it was also scheduled so I had to go into the Recording Options and record only the channel that I wanted.
You might also want to review the link @TabloTV provided in their post above.
I’m not sure about Tablo specifically or PBS specifically, but the same thing happens on TiVo with certain stations, where the guide reports multiple showing during the day as being new, even though they are repeats. The fix for TiVo is to set up a repeating daily manual recording.
Are these the same newscasts repeated three times a day?
If so, the Keep option might help. You could set it to ensure that only one recording of the newscast exists on your library at a time.
In the program guide, do all of the newscasts have different names (such as: news at 5, news at 6) or do all of them have the same name? If they all have the same name, it will record all of them. (Maybe the meta-data in the guide has the same names for all of the newscasts?)
This sounds like the reason. Our local news, for example, on FOX is, “FOX News at 4”, “FOX News at 5”, etc and I only selected one show, “…at 5” and only that one program recorded over the past few days. We’ll see if any of these suggestions help the OP when they report back.
Yeah I have the same issue with one of the local news stations. Every episode is called the same thing, so it records constantly rather than only the one timeslot I prefer. It would be great if we can add additional filters / criteria to recordings such like (record every episode that airs at 7 AM).
It is frustrating, but I have just started deleting and not recording the episodes I don’t want. I do up to 2 weeks at a time.
