Tablo quad old school upgrade

I have the old school black quad box, it seems to be getting slower and has locked up now will try a reset but seems these boxes start doing this after a while. This is my 3rd box so far since I have been using them. Is it worth to update to the quad white box or not? Will I get better performance out of the white box or is there still a lot to work through? Thanks

It is functionally quite different. The biggest difference is that you cannot access a Gen 4 Tablo from outside your home network. You do get access to a lot of free streaming channel, but the are essentially the low-level basic cable channels. It does have the advantage of no monthly fee.

From the chatter on here, the Legacy users seem pretty disappointed by the Gen 4. Personally, I love mine, but I never had the earlier box to compare.

Can’t say that I am unhappy with the G4 box as I don’t have one, but very disappointed in the G4 app I am Beta testing on my Legacy quad.
So many things they made more cumbersome than on Legacy.
I think the biggest thing that irritates me is the addition of the home page.
Always getting some live show shoved in you face that you don’t want to watch.
About the only thing I watch live is NFL games, and only for a few teams.
So what’s on live I don’t care about.
As long as my Legacy works and can still use the Legacy app, I’ll pay the $4.99/mo guide fee, which is rather ridiculous to have to pay monthly.
If it dies, I will look at other options.

Much of the stuff customers like/dislike could be options to set/reset in Settings.
Not Rocket Science…

I do appreciate the more modern UI, but as you say it comes with some drawbacks.
