I experienced a high-pitched squeaking sound coming from my Tablo Quad Legacy. After trying several troubleshooting steps, I measured the power supply’s output voltage with a multimeter. The reading was only 8.6V, significantly lower than the expected 12V. I replaced the power supply with a new 12V unit, which completely fixed the noise. I hope this information is useful to others facing the same issue.

Interesting - did it squeak all the time, or only periodically? Mine emits a med/high-pitched (not quiet) squeak periodically, which I’ve sort of correlated roughly to the times when a recording might be starting. I kind of guessed it was the drive spinning up or something, but never really investigated as it is short lived and not too irritating

First intermittent then regular. Just search “how to test power supply with multimeter”. There are multiple videos. It’s a simple and fast test.
Just saying thanks for the tip. I noticed my legacy would not recognize the storage (SSD) and after I did a unplug/plug it back in I heard a constant squeak noise. The tablo power supply voltage was not stable even though it was over 12v most of the time I was testing. I swapped it out for one I had in a bin here (I can’t throw anything away) that was 12 v but different amp and so far so good.

I’m glad this post helped someone else. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but after testing then swapping my plug, I’ve had zero issues with the squeaking.
My Tablo legacy quad started squeaking a few weeks ago. I thought it sounded like a fan or other moving part inside, so I took it apart, just to find that there don’t seem to be any moving parts. Unfortunately it pulled apart the rubbery material that connects the chip to the heat sink. I put it back together, and I’ll keep an eye on the temperature.
I appreciate the help from this site as that helped me find the solution. I tested the power supply, and it tested ok. But I ordered a new one from Tablo. And that took care of the squeak!
Assuming the heatsink/cpu doesn’t have mounting brackets you might be talking about mounting putty. And only you would know if it had thermal paste.
