Tablo Legacy 4-Tuner - I just wanna watch it REMOTELY (so frustrated)

Guys, Gals,

I love Tablo, been with them since kickstarter, and I used to get some amazing help over the phone when I had issues. Sadly, I am struggling for answers, and I’m not sure where to turn.

There is the last time I made an attempt, and although I did retrieve some numbers, I don’t know where or how to plug them in to make the magic happen. I’m not a tech guy, but I understand how to follow instructions.

The issue is, I have my ISP, which is Verizon 5G gateway, and that is plugged into a TP-Link DECO wifi router, in turn hard wired into my switch and thus the TABLO device.

How, oh how can I watch my local TV on the run? I’m at the point where I would pay someone to get it to work again. What do I do, where do I turn? Can Tablo charge me to walk me thru the steps?

Thanks for reading, shoutout to snowcat!

I have a very similar setup but I use a T-Mobile 5G gateway and a Deco router. For my setup (and I’m guessing yours) the 5G gateway is not capable of port forwarding like traditional cable modems. I also cannot configure my gateway in bridge mode so I have two options, either be double Nat’ed or configure my Deco Router as an Access Point. I do the latter. But the upshot for my setup (and likely yours) is that the port forwarding cannot be configured and thus the remote viewing is not possible. Perhaps Verizon is more capable than T-mobile. Do you know if your wifi router is setup as an access point or can your Verizon Gateway be setup in bridge mode? If not, then you are double nat’ed and that certainly will prevent remote viewing from working.

Would it work if they had a static IP address from their provider?

the verizon modem does have ethernet connection on the back, and port forwarding feature listed.

I was thinking I could connect TABLO directly to the verizon modem and try that port forwarding with them, it would prevent me from local streaming, unless I switch the device to the wifi on the verizon account. food for thought.

There is hope! Yes, run the test you propose. If it works then you have multiple options. 1) If the Verizon Gateway is acting as a router then see if you can configure it in bridge mode and restore your previous wiring. 2) If it is a router and bridge mode is not possible then configure the Deco router as an access point, again with your original wiring. 3) Get a small network switch with the input coming from your Verizon gateway, one ouput to the Deco router, and one output to the Tablo. Options 1 and 2 are best and which one is better depends on the Verizon gateway’s wifi capbilities (if any) and the placement of your equipment for wifi coverage.

Just to reiterate what hes saying… There maybe a bypass option in the verzion jetpack. May consider getting a PepWave or a Seirra Wireless 5G wireless router for better long term use.
