Tablo Gen4 Guide - Program Descriptions - Dallas #413292

Since the update to the Apps for missing guide titles or around that time as it may be coincidence, there are multiple instances of missing program/episode descriptions. This is true for OTA and FAST channels both.

I use the Live TV grid almost exclusively. But the issue is apparent on the Home screen as well.

A missing description on a channel may appear on the next program on the same channel.
And
It seems to affect different channels randomly so it could be Fox and H&I then an hour later those are OK and other channels that previously had descriptions are now blank.

I’ve seen this occur with PSIP EPG but most guide services are all data entry, which has something there.

  1. Fire Stick 4k (Wi-Fi) is randomly blank
  2. LG TV (Ethernet) displays the program title in description
  3. Android phone (Wi-Fi) also has program title in description

All titles seem to be stable and appear on every channel.

  1. I deselected all but the very last FAST channel
  2. Waited for brief Guide Update x2
  3. Exited the app
  4. Re-executed the app to insure only one channel
  5. Did full rescan
  6. Waited for Guide Update x2
  7. Selected channels x109
  8. Waited for Guide Update x2

No observable difference.

Please only allow Tablo to respond. No random responses are useful.









You should probably submit a Support Request if you only want Tablo to respond, then DM the @TabloTV user your ticket number.

It’s interesting that the guide data is more complete on 75230 than 75220. A few streets away.

September 3, 2025
Day 1
Sent email to support at 12:25 pm Wednesday. The Customer Service for Tablo appears to be negatively affected by Zendesk AI attempting to work customer support. Asked via email for all the information that I had already provided via email.

Day 2
Thursday noticed wrong ticket number assigned. Email ticket number does not match the number provided via CS message. Accessed my device to ‘fix’ something that I didn’t report. Original problem report is unresolved. I copied and pasted the problem again into the body of the email to resend.

Day 3
Awaiting response from Tablo on Friday.

Just received response as I was posting. Somehow they indicated that they ran additional processes without the device in remote mode and I should wait 2 hours for results.

Further contact indicated that I created multiple support numbers because of the way I reported the problem. Also said to wait for the results of the fix for two hours. Ticket escalated.

Several hours later there is improvement on Android phone descriptions but got a new error on a channel that always has bogus program descriptions but is now correct on LGTV but not Android or Fire 4k. (KHPKLD6 28.6) “Error Loading Airing Details”

I never watch Tablo Gen4 on Android. Most viewing is on Fire 4k then LGTV.

Cleared storage on Android and re-signed on. Still errors out. I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but I’m told they’re running processes to fix it.

No noticable difference.

Did a full rescan resulting in no change.

Updated Guide manually on all three devices with no noticable difference.

Sent email at 4pm telling Tablo that there is no change.

Day 4
Saturday morning bogus channel now updated and thus no error.

Other devices are status quo. Rebooted Tablo Gen4 successfully. No difference.

New error Nosey channel 4.5 “To Be Announced”.

I’m assuming no one works weekends. No response from yesterday’s (Friday) email.

Day 5
Sunday morning and the problem is worse on all three devices. Missing Program Descriptions abound.

Sunday 3pm attempted to change location from 75220 to 60609. Failed with message the zip is too far from my known location. Changed to 75205 and did rescan.

Of 106 selected channels 23 are missing Program Descriptions.

Day 6
Monday 8am of 106 selected channels 27 are missing Program Descriptions.

Monday 9:30 am response is to factory reset the Tablo Gen4.

Factory Reset completed at 9:45 am. Of 252 channels 51 have Missing Program Descriptions.

Placed Tablo Gen4 into Remote Control Mode. Awaiting response from Tablo.

At 10:45am of 252 channels 62 are Missing Program Descriptions. Awaiting response from Tablo.

At 11:45 I sent another email to remind Tablo that the factory reset didn’t correct the problem.

Response at 12noon indicated that the Factory Reset was incomplete. Will attempt again.

Completed Factory Reset 2 at 12:15 pm and placed Tablo in Remote Control Mode.

Of 252 channels 61 are missing Program Descriptions.

Response from Tablo at 12:42pm how to do factory reset. Same instructions as before. Same instructions that I followed.

Uninstalled Android phone app. Rebooted phone.

Initiated Factory Reset 3. Reinstalled app. Completed sign on at 1pm. Notified Support.

Awaiting response from Tablo.

Completed Factory Reset 4 at 1:40pm. Still awaiting response from Tablo.

2:40pm still awaiting response from Tablo. Set device to Remote Control Mode.

At 2:45pm sent another email to support asking if they are still working on this ticket. It’s been 2 hours.

At 3pm sent a message via CS to ask if they are still working on this ticket. Awaiting response.

Awaiting response from support.

Day 7
Device is not in Remote Control Mode as of 5am Tuesday. Awaiting response from support.

Verified on Android phone and LG app that the problem continues with missing Program Descriptions.

Duplicate program entries for AMC Thrillers on Fire 4k.

At 11:00am rebooted the device and set program recordings that were deleted. Went into lineup with 252 channels and started culling OTA channels I don’t watch. Guide Update didn’t start. Waited several minutes then attempted manual update with no success. Exited LG app and restarted immediately. Lineup now shows updating. Hung at 93% for ten minutes. Exited LG app and immediately restarted. Status indicates that last update was 9 minutes ago. Went into lineup to cull FAST channels. Guide Update ran. Exited LG app and immediately restarted. There are 116 channels remaining. Third cull of remaining OTA and FAST channels. There are now 94 channels remaining with 19 Program Descriptions Missing. Guide Update hung at 73% had to back out to Home page and went immediately back to see completion.

Awaiting response from support.

At 1pm sent email to management.

Day 8

Improvement in Android and LG program descriptions at 5am. Of 94 selected channels 11 are missing Program Descriptions on LG with similar status on Android.

The Fire 4k has 13 missing Program Descriptions but also has the duplicate program entries for AMC Thrillers.

Tech Support email at 12noon indicated that the device didn’t factory reset. Requested that I place device in remote control mode and allow them to factory reset.

Factory Reset 5 complete at 2:20pm. LG TV still shows 94 channels selected while 14 day guide is still downloading. Android phone shows 252.

TS email request to verify reset by support. Placed device in Remote Control Mode again.

Response from support to verify phone app goes to setup screen. It goes through antenna setup and stops on channel rescan.

Email response at 3:30pm request to uninstall phone app and reinstall. Went through Factory Reset 6 setup and recan.

Of the 252 selected channels 39 are Missing Programs Descriptions using the LGtv app. There are 47 missing on the Fire 4k.The 14 day guide is still downloading 29%.

Culled channels down to 95 with 12 Missing Program Descriptions. Duplicate program entry for AMC Thrillers on Fire 4k.

Day 9

Thursday 5am.
Of 94 selected channels 21 are missing program descriptions on Android phone. There are 10 missing on LGTV. There are 12 missing on Fire 4k.

Duplicate program entries for AMC Thrillers on Fire 4k. Trending section.

Placed the device into Remote Control Mode at 5:30am.

Awaiting response from support.

At 9:45am response indicated that ticket will be escalated to the Firmware Team. No ETA on a fix.

At 1:50pm there are 17 missing Program Descriptions on LG. At 2:10 pm there are 17 missing Program Descriptions on Fire 4k.

Day 10

Device is no longer in remote control mode at 5:30am.

Missing Program Descriptions on Android phone are 17 and 14 for LG.

Placed device into Remote Control Mode at 6:30am.

Awaiting response from Firmware Team.

At 8:15am there are 22 out of 94 selected channels Missing Program Descriptions on the Fire 4k app.

Also duplicate program entries for AMC Thrillers. First one indicates “To Be Announced”. When selected it displays an error about program details.

At 11am there are 21 Missing Program Descriptions on the LG app.

At 5pm Friday there are 21 Missing Program Descriptions on the LG app out of 94 channels selected.

Placed device into Remote Control Mode at 5:45am.

There are 21 Missing Program Descriptions on LG app out of 93 selected channels. There are 24 missing on the Android phone app.

At 10:55am there are 25 Missing Program Descriptions on the LG app. There are 26 on the Android phone app.

Side notes: This has been happening for months but often upon starting one of the apps, there are missing thumbnails and program descriptions. When I exit the app then restart it most will repopulate correctly.

Friday night September 12 I did a rescan while recording a live OTA show. I thought previously that a message indicated I needed to wait or stop recording. Viewed recording with no errors. Second rescan finalized and the channel list displayed at the end with the highest numbers and the beginning of FAST. In every other rescan it redisplays the lowest numbers. (Note: If there is at least one tuner available it will proceed with the rescan.)

So while I was waiting for the Cavalry to ride in…

I checked my LGTV for missing program descriptions and only 10 out of 113 are missing.

They’re infomercials and one general programming (Wild West FAST channel with The Lonesome Dove) but who cares?

Even better is the Fire 4k G2… Only 5 missing descriptions out of 113.

What an amazing improvement.

I still can’t view GustoTV. Spinner spins.
