Maybe the lowest prices evva on junglezon, but the same prices are now at Bestbuy too.
That’s where I got my 4 tuner for $99, last April. Somebody had posted here about that sale.
Even lower prices at the tablo factory refurb store Refurbished Over The Air DVRs | Tablo – Tablo TV
My 2 cents for prospective buyers: unless you know 2 tuners will always meet your needs, don’t bother with the 2 tuner.
I might have bought zapperbox, but the few tuners were a dealbreaker.
I’m considering upgrading my legacy 4-tuner to the new 4-tuner one. I’m not having any issues with my current one except for the fact that it doesn’t get MPEG4 and that the guide has been messed up since the springtime change, and it’s even more messed up now after the fall one.
Any pros or cons I should know about besides having to spend $110 for the new one?
What device do you use to watch it? Have you followed the threads?
I haven’t had any guide issues on my HDMI outside of a minor guide display quirk on the Sat/Sun of Standard Time.

Personally, I like the Gen 4 Tablo. I have had very few problems with mine. Some folk have had a harder time. I have no experience with the Legacy model, but I have read a lot about it.
The Gen 4 is viewable only through a streaming device, like a Roku. It does not connect directly to the TV, so be sure that your home network is all sorted out. The big complaints I have seen from former Legacy users is that the Gen 4 does not allow remote viewing or programing, so you can’t be away from home and watch shows from your Tablo. You also can’t program it if you are not home. You MUST be connected to your home network to access the Tablo.
On the plus side, there is no charge for the program guide, in fact, there are no monthly charges with the Gen 4 at all. You can run both a Legacy and a Gen 4 at the same time as long as you have a good splitter for the antenna wire. Also, Gen 4 handles MPEG4, so should give you a better picture.
I hope that is helpful.
Just got my one year anniversary award so I’ve been her for awhile You’ve done a great job describing the ups and downs, pros and cons of the Gen 4 Tablo. I’ve had my own share of good days and bad days, ups and downs over my year long ownership, but in the end I have to say it is a great value with all of its compromises and well worth the purchase.
I’ve had a Legacy 4-tuner OTA unit for a little over a year now.
Got it just before they were all gone after Gen-4 came out.
The only reason I would go to the Gen-4 is to get rid of the stupid $4.99/mo for the guide.
If I could pay annually, I wouldn’t mind it. It’s just annoying having to pay monthly.
Upon seeing the issues with Gen-4 I decided to wait a year.
Well, the year is up and the problems still exist, so I will wait another year.
If my Legacy fails before Gen-4 is a solid unit, I will probably look into switching to the HRHR.
