Tablo Dual with or without onboard storage

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had compared the performance of a Tablo Dual with onboard storage (64 GB or 128 GB) vs Tablo Dual Lite, with an external drive connected in both cases. I was wondering how the Tablo Dual with onboard storage was handling recordings and buffering: is it filling up the onboard storage before using the external drive? Regardless of the way the recording and buffering is handled, is this resulting in improved or reduced performance? Thanks in advance.

It’s my understanding that as soon as you connect an external drive the Tablo will no longer record to the internal storage, but it will still be able to access the internal storage to play any existing recordings.

Typically, problems with buffering are associated with wifi problems rather than harddrive access times. So, I don’t think you’ll see any difference in performance.
