Tablo can’t connect since eero router update

My Eero 6+ router mesh did a firmware update last week. Since then, I either can’t connect to the Tablo at all, or I can see menus, but it loses its connection once I actually try to playback a recording or view live TV. This occurs with every means I have of connecting to the Tablo: Assorted Amazon Fire devices, the iPhone Tablo app, and the appleTV client software. I have an extensive smart home setup, with over 40 connected switches, bulbs, streamers, etc. Nothing besides the Tablo has shown any kind of problem since the router firmware update, so EERO support is, of course, blaming Tablo. I’ve even gone as far as running an Ethernet cable across my home to see if it is a WiFi issue, but the same thing happens even with the Tablo connected via Ethernet. I’m at my wits end. It seems like Tablo and eero need to talk to one another, but I have no idea how to make that happen.

Have you restarted the router, eeros and Tablo?

Check the IP address in the settings. Confirm that it matches your network when you are plugged in via Ethernet. Try pinging that IP address from another device and see if it responds to icmp.

Of course, that was the first thing I did when troubleshooting. Cable modem, router base and satellite, and the Tablo have all been restarted several times.

I figured. But since you went into great deal with what was going on and the other things you’d tried, I wanted to confirm this.

There are numerous posts on eero systems… this has to be the 4th person I’ve seen with issues… Sounds rough, guys.

Confirmed, the Tablo got its Ethernet ip4 address from the dhcp server in the router, and is assigned a good local network address. I can ping it from my phone, my desktop, and via a network monitor app loaded on both a firestick and a firecube.

Ooh I’m glad you’re seeing other eero posts. Mind if I ask which thread? I came across a few old ones regarding legacy Tablo models that were a few years old. I’ll search again for other new ones. Perhaps multiple hits will convince eero/amazon to take a look rather than just blame Tablo.

I had Eero until a few months ago. My Chamberlain garage door opener never would connect. I assumed the wifi on the opener was bad. Then I replaced my router and the opener connects.

There is something about Eero that some devices just don’t like.

I have an Eero mesh system (6E Pro) which replaced an Eero 6+ system. I would suggest:

  1. Create a reservation for the Tablo using the Eero app and ensure it isn’t on a Guest network. You can connect the Tablo each way (wired/wireless, separately of course) and set a reservation for each.
  2. Clear the cache for the Tablo app on your devices. If you can’t, remove the app then re-add it.
  3. Ensure the device is on the same network as the Tablo.
  4. Try connecting again.

If you didn’t know, creating a reservation will ensure the Tablo will get the same IP address every time it requests one which should make it easier for the app in the device to find it easier.

If connecting using wireless, make sure the Eero is not using WPA3 as I don’t believe the Tablo supports it. The Eero is supposed to flip the device to WPA2 if a connection doesn’t support WPA3 but, like the Chamberlain garage door opener, it might not. I haven’t tried it, but I think I will.
