Tablo AppleTV App (4th Generation) ETA?

I hate to say it, but I stopped using mine as did not like having to switch to a FireTV device only for this one thing.

Since the last reply was 25 days ago, does that mean you have all given up on Tablo releasing an Apple TV app? I just got Tablo not realizing just how few options I have to watch anything using it. I guess I need to look at HDHomerun.

No. Still waiting. At least until then end of fall….

Unless everything I been told is mistaken, this along with the new 4 tuner will be out before the end of the year if not mid month. Since having to use one more due to this, I am actually finding the newest FireTV Cube a pretty decent device. Runs apps about the same, nice web browser to use on streaming sites, way more apps that Apple has too. I might not switch back.

With the fact that winter starts in 11 days, you would think we would have a better idea as to when we would see the Apple app become available. I don’t think they will be able to hit their target deadline of end of fall!

Unless Tablo is planning a surprise announcement of the Apple TV platform before midnight tonight, they’ve missed their late Fall target. They should know better than to mention a date of any sort, raises user expectations and disappoints. Just use the normal “coming soon” meaningless marketing-speak that we’ve all come to love.

@TabloTV any ETA on beta version of 4th gen app for AppleZtV?

Your guess is as good as mine. I thought I was going to be beta testing it back in July but it was only available for the iPad and iPhone. Needless to say I haven’t used it much because I have 2 of the older 4 tuners that work with the Apple TV. I am really excited to beta test the new app when it is available.

It has to already be in beta else they would not keep saying close. You can’t really say close if still an alpha.

I wouldn’t make any assumptions from the loose term “close”. While I’d love to be able to use my Apple TV’s again, I’m knee-deep in Roku’s now simply because I don’t trust the marketing term “close”. Personally, I don’t believe that it maps into Alpha, Beta, or “on the drawing board”, or whatever. I do recall the ATSC 3.0 thing that kept getting pushed out until it finally disappeared. I’m sure that the Apple contingent of Tablo users isn’t anywhere near as large as the Fire or Roku group, just based on what I read elsewhere and the cost difference as well. If saying “close” keeps them on the hook, though, so much the better for Tablo.

On the other hand, the 4th gen Tablo is behaving a lot better than the “Legacy” Tablo that I was using. Of course, that Tablo had been in use since 2018, and given how hot it felt I’m not surprised that it was showing signs of age 5 or 6 years later. And Roku is bearable, despite being a throwback to the early 2000’s, or whenever I had that first Roku.

I already moved on, same as you, but with Android devices for the things they can do that AppleTV can’t like web browser to watch streaming sites, more apps, etc… When and if the AppleTV app ever comes I will rethink it of course.

I have the ADTH ATSC 3 converter box right now and it is not as buggy as some say. I have received a bunch of updates and now it can even “record” ATSC 3 DRM programs in a “very limited” DVR. Going to be a bedroom or kitchen low use box in the end. VERY nice picture better IMO than the 2 other ATSC 3 DVR’s I have used and some channels and shows have HDR.

This is why I switched already and I know this means little  but I emailed support and was told “they are hoping to have it out in the coming months”.

I know means nothing and the app could come tomorrow, but this is different than what I heard before and makes me leery it might be months.

It’s not in beta. It’s possible that the devs have figured out how to live stream or play back recordings but can’t quite get both to work. I just know using native MPEG2 streaming is an issue on AppleTV, which is why it wasn’t supported on the HDMI Tablos.

I posted after that, they said “coming months” so I switched to Android already as that does not sound good.

Has anyone had an official word or anything more solid than a comment like I had from support saying months?

Notice the s which might be Feb

Hey Tablo TV, it is almost the new year, any update on the AppleTV 4th gen release date?

Year almost over. Hoe soon. Jan 12 might be Best Buy bound due to it being rushed to market for Christmas

What was rushed to the market for Christmas? The 4th gen Tablo went on sale in August.
