The new Category View groups major local networks, your favorite channels, and other related programming together within the grid guide, making it even easier to browse and discover shows that match your interests.
By grouping channels with similar content instead of arbitrarily by channel number, you can quickly hop through the grid and find something great to watch, whether you want to laugh, check out the news, or learn something new.
The classic Channels Grid View will still be available, and you can switch your view at any time. Your chosen view will remain your default selection until you change it, even if you close and relaunch the Tablo app.
I hate the way the channel guide now moves all the sub channels associated with the main channel to a different location. I hated it when they added just a few channels before you get to the local channel but now I really don’t like it. The only way to fix it is to remove all the channels and just keep your local channel on the guide. That’s what I did but it still doesn’t perform as well as the original Tablo.
I only use the new one if I have to. Another reason the original is better is if you loose internet you can still watch tv with out having to put it in off line mode or what ever they call it.
If they want you to try out the streaming channels they need to put them back under all your local channels. If I want to steam tv show I just use Pluto TV or any other stream app I pay for. I pay for paramount plus so I have my local CBS and I have fox 1 so I have my local FOX channel. The reason for the Tablo is to record local channels anyway and those channels should be first in the guide.
The original Tablo is so much better. If it is not broke don’t fix it. That’s what I’ve always been told anyway.
I was watching the hockey game on a local channel via the Tablo app on my Apple TV and the Apple TV idle screensaver kept kicking in if I didn’t interact with the app every now and then. Is this a known issue? I’m still on tvOS 18.6.
