Tablo Apple TV App (4th Gen) Update (v.1.9.0 & 1.9.1)

Hi folks -

An update for the Apple TV app for 4th Generation Tablo devices is now available.

This update includes the new Offline Mode, so if you don’t have automatic updates enabled, make sure to update your app.

Tablo Apple TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.9.0)

  • Adds new Offline Mode
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements

Tablo Apple TV App (4th Gen) Update (v. 1.9.1)

  • Fix for issue where some recordings were incorrectly marked as failed

About Offline Mode
Offline Mode has been added as part of a commitment to make Tablo features more robust for all users.

With Offline Mode, if you have power and your home Wi-Fi router can provide an active local network connection (LAN) between your Tablo and your streaming devices or smart TVs, you can still access live local broadcasts and previously recorded programming.

When Tablo detects it doesn’t have an active connection to the internet or our servers, you’ll see a notification in your Tablo app that Offline Mode is required. There is no way to trigger this manually.

When you enter Offline Mode, you’ll see a notification banner at the top of your screen and some features will be unavailable.

You can read more about Offline Mode and how it works on the Knowledge Base.

If you have any questions or problems with this update, post them below or touch base directly with support.

Is this feature suppose to work on AppleTV? When I hit play, the program usually gives a stall error. If I select the channel or use the other method of select and than play it works.

It was mentioned as feature on other platforms but not for AppleTV. So I am wondering if it is suppose to function now or not.

  • Adds support for different PLAY vs. SELECT/OK remote control behavior on live TV and recordings

Hello,
I called and spoken with Tablo tech-support at least four times, and they still have not resolved my issue with my Apple TV. So I have two other TVs, and when I record the shows, I able to watch the recorded shows. However, when I watch the same recorded shows on my Apple TV device, they now won’t display and they say they have FAILED. I have been using Apple TV for the last year with no issues! The other 2 TV’s use Amazon Fire stick and other one doesn’t need anything because it’s a new Smart TV.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I also have the same issue when I am using my Ipad. I have no issues when using my FireTV. Maybe Tablo needs to update their Apple apps.

Sorry you ran into that.

The latest update, 1.9.1, should resolve the issue.

My 4th generation firmware is 2.2.54. And it is up to date. So…I did everything asked of me to try and still no change. Then I deleted my Tablo App again (this like the 3rd or 4th time I have done so). And turned off my TV and turn on my TV and reinstated the app. Finally it now working…no more “failed” to view my recorded shows.

However, unlike my other 2 TV’s, when viewing a show that is still recording I can see it from the beginning, my Apple TV starts at live broadcast, and only be viewed from the beginning when the show has finished recording. It is rather annoying, is there any fix in the future?

AppleTV can’t start at the beginning. It’s covered on Tablos device page - Tablo on Apple TV - Tablo TV
