Did you all sign NDA’s preventing you from sharing any info with those of us that aren’t testing the app? If not, can you share with us some info like: is the on screen UI similar to the Android TV version? Does the video appear to be deinterlaced properly? Broadcast 1080i channels are 60hz but using half frames, so the they can combine both half frames into a single frame and de-comb it and display at 30hz but sports will suffer. Or they can display it as 60hz by combining the last frame with the current one, and just doing the de-combing. This is the proper way and good for sports. The NVIDIA Shield handles this natively but the Apple TV doesn’t so it comes down to the software in the app itself.
Looking forward to testing and the eventual release of an updated Tablo app for Apple TV. I have the original Tablo which has developed wifi connectivity problems (and runs really HOT!) using the Tablo Legacy app. I’m able to access my new Tablo through an updated app on my Samsung/Google TV but the color is really funky and saturated compared to the normal look of the Legacy app. It is the perfect device when my DirecTV service fails or when I need to record a local TV station that DirecTV has dropped due to its constant disputes with broadcast ownership groups.
Seems like I have been waiting for the AppleTV app forever. I am definitely up to join the beta.
I am excited for the release of the Tablo app for Apple TV. I have 3 Apple TVs in use and its most useful to have Tablo working on apple. I have worked in IT for 40 years and would love the opportunity to help with beta testing.
Happy to Beta Test for Apple TV, my primary streaming device. Let’s get it!
Aside from some missing features, the apple tv app seems to be the best one
I signed up for beta testing a couple of weeks ago, anyway you can check my status. I’ve beta tested for DirecTV in the past and I’m really interested.
We are looking forward to testing the Beta app on all of our Apple TV boxes (we have 4). If it matters, we have had a lot of experience developing and Beta testing apps. Hopefully the Early Access Program is still open to new applicants.
Apple TV is our preferred viewing interface and we had delayed purchasing the 4th Gen Tablo due to the lack of the Apple TV app. When I finally heard about the Beta test last week, I immediately ordered the Tablo which I received yesterday. Now I have submitted the survey referenced in the OP.
Just went out and bought a 4th gen Tablo when I saw the beta started for the Apple TV app. I was waiting to get one until this app became available. I would love to be part of the beta. Submitted request on survey monkey link on Friday. Can’t wait to get the app!
I signed up about a week ago but never heard anything. I’m retired so I can beta test all day…
If you haven’t heard back, you likely did not follow the instructions in the sign-up sheet.
You can try again using a different device.
Would like to join the beta test group. I reviewed and QAed several software and hardware solutions as an IT specialist at a prominent insurance company.
Have you filled out the form linked at the top yet?
I’m a very new Tablo 4 owner (as of Friday morning, and love it!). Was sad about the lack of an Apple TV app and had resigned myself to just using the onn Google TV 4K I also have for both Tablo and the Roku Channel app until I happened across this community and post.
Filled out the beta form late Saturday night and was granted access early Monday morning.
Are they posting public lists so users know who’s got access, or is this something they don’t want outsides to know?
You will get an email from Testflight
I was asking because I didn’t think that members are supposed to share that they were in the program. I didn’t want the user to get into trouble for stating that they were already in there.
It’s fine to share that you’re participating. We just prefer people who are in to keep the details around testing contained within the specific beta group/threads.
Signed up here to test, if possible. Have 2 Tablo gen 4s and 3 Apple TVs
Having never been involved with beta testing I am curious how long will it go on for. Is there any expectation as to when the app will be released to the public?
I am one of those who will wait till it’s right. Your job as testers is to look for things you know are going to be problems and tell them about it so they can fix it now. There a high chance if it isn’t fixed in testing. It won’t be fixed for a long time . It may take a little extra time now, but not the months and even years to fix later.
SO GO BETA TESTERS
