Tablo App won't load on new Roku Ultra

Just bought a new 2024 Roku Ultra. Downloaded the app for 4th gen and was able to select my unit. Once the home screen of the app loaded, it immediately crashed and sent me back to the Roku home screen. Tried rebooting Roku, Tablo, and router and get the same result when launching Tablo app.

Have had my 4th gen Tablo for over year, still works almost flawlessly on Android device and Fire TV stick. Anyone know if there are settings that need to be tweaked to get this working on the Ultra?

Confirm Roku is on latest OS.

The Ultra is running 15.1.

Sorry you’re running into that.

Try clearing the Roku’s app cache. If that fails, try removing your Roku app and reinstalling it.

Please let us know if you still have problems after that.

Cleared the cache and had the same problem. Installing and reinstalling the app did the same thing as well.

Would you contact Tablo Support? If you do, please DM us your ticekt number and Talbo’s MAC address.

Roku, wired or wireless? Tablo wired or wireless? Both on same network/router? Roku would default to 5ghz wifi while the Tablo would connect to 2ghz wifi…do you have the same name for your network? my home, or do you have myhome2ghz and myhome5ghz?

Roku is wireless on 5ghz fiber network, tablo is wired. Both 2ghz and 5ghz are set up with differing names.

The Roku Ultra does have a wired connection, why not temporarily connect the Roku to your router wired if you can to see if it connects to Tablo. Or leave the Roku on wireless and connect the Tablo to your 5ghz wifi network. By the Way what type of router do you have?

I’ve been using the 4th generation Tablo for approximately two years with my multiple Roku Utras and a Roku 4. They have all worked flawlessly until 8 April 2026. I suspect that it has something to do with a recent software update by Roku around the same date. My Tablo/Roku symptoms are the same as you have described. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the Tablo App on all my devices multiple times along with multiple soft Tablo resets (white button on bottom of device) as well as a hard (unplug) reset. I’ve reset each of my Rokus multiple times as well without a solution. I’m sure the Roku software update no longer allows it to play nicely with the Tablo. Hopefully, these two companies will get together and troubleshoot the problem ASAP. I’ve been unable to access my Tablo content for almost a week. It is getting a little more than frustrating at this point.

The following guidance is from Tablo Support:

There’s a known issue related to the Roku OS 14 update that can prevent OTA channels from playing in the Tablo app.

Please try this workaround on each Roku:

  1. On the Roku device (not in the Tablo app), go to Settings → Audio → Digital output format → Custom.
  2. Under Dolby, select Dolby Digital (leave DTS disabled).
  3. Open the Tablo app and try playing an OTA channel again.

If that doesn’t fix it, repeat step 1 but choose Stereo instead of Custom .

After action report: Tablo’s recommended fix (Posted above) did not work (for me) Note: I have three Roku devices and this fix did not solve my problem on any of them.

We have our Roku Ultra (v2024) Audio set to Auto and it works. Our Roku OS is 15.1.4 build 3321.

Thanks for the input. Gave it a shot. Unfortunately I’m still having no luck accessing the Tablo. I’ll try to get a human from Tablo Support to walk me through the process. Not sure what the problem is. All my Rokus are funtioning just fine in all other respects.

Hi @skenyon2_93 ,

If you haven’t already, try setting up Audio Compatibility Mode in the SETTINGS menu of your Tablo Roku app.

Thanks for the tips. I tried the audio settings you mentioned but it made no difference for me. I also have audio compatibility on and can’t get the app to load. Still waiting to hear back from support.

I’m unable to access my Tablo settings thru the app and none of the recommended fixes within the Roku settings have made a difference. I’m still unable to access my tablo on any of my otherwise fully funtional Rokus. Help!

@skenyon2_93 ,

You should be able to acess Audio Compatibility Mode via your mobile app (iOS or Android). Are you able to? Does this help?

Hi @KeepitSHORT,

Would you DM us your email address and/or ticket number?

Thanks for directing me to the Tablo phone app. Apparently, my Tablo is already in Stereo ACC mode. The Surround Sound AC3 mode is off. If I recall correctly, Tablo support had me make this update more than a year ago when I was unable to play some of my library recordings. The problem I’m encountering now is different. Now, I can’t even access the Tablo home screen to get to my recordings. The Tablo Home Screen will only flash on my Sony TV momentarily and then immediately returns to the Roku home screen. Keep sending me your ideas. My ticket ID is: 540482

Question: Is it possible that my internet provider has made some security upgrade that is preventing the Tablo app from working properly? Just spitballing at this point. I ask, because the day I encountered this problem Xfinity was doing some upgrades on their system that resulted in a temporary outage for my neighborhood.
