I installed the Tablo app on my Roku device. A second Roku in my bedroom has all the apps installed from the first Roku device. The Tablo app on my 2nd Roku does not appear on my Home Screen and when trying to install the app, it just lists “Open” instead of Install. To use Tablo on my 2nd Roku, I always have to search the App Store for Tablo and then select Open. I have rebooted both the Roku device and my router and the app will still not appear on my Roku Home Screen.
On Roku you may have to install the app on both devices. I have also found after installing apps on Roku they may show up at the bottom of the Home Screen, so if you have a lot of apps on the Home Screen you may have to scroll up or down to see the newly installed app and then use the * button to move it around.
Also, the Roku screen “rolls over”, so if you go up from the home row, it will go to the “bottom” of the apps.
That seems to be a known Roku issue.
Try removing and reinstalling the app.
Every app I install on my first Roku always shows up at the end of my app list on my 2nd Roku. That is normal behavior.
I found a workaround to anyone else with this issue. I uninstalled the Tablo app on my main Roku, since that remote has Voice Control. I installed the Tablo app on my second Roku. The app appears fine. On my main Roku, I have the same results as before…..Tablo does NOT appear on my home screen at the bottom of my apps and when looking to install the app, I get the “Open” screen, not the “Install” screen. However, I can use the Voice Command to say “Open Tablo app” and the app will open without having to use the search function each time.
I noticed the same thing when I installed the app for my Jellyfin server. It is a Roku problem. It was annoying, but it fixed itself in just a few days.
This has been happening for years with apps other than Tablo. I have 7 Rokus in my house. Apps will load on most and eventually show up on others over time. They will be installed but the avatar doesn’t show up for days. I always suspected that the delay is associated with the number of devices that I have registered with Roku.
Back when I was using Rokus I installed most apps from Roku.com. From what I recall it would populate on all my registered devices. Don’t remember an app not showing up on any of them but it’s been a few years since I installed an app on them.
Things change as they become more sophisticated/complicated.
