I would kind of like the gen 4 enough to use it. And while I rarely use the fire tv sticks I thought I would try the new release.

So I don’t remember what release 1.1 looked like. I wonder what is the purpose of the 3 menus: shows, movies, and sports. I always though it was a way to use the guide information to schedule specific shows for recording.

So when I filter shows by the channels I wonder why the OTA channels have no virtual signal number - just station call letters. And why in the world would the first 2 menu items in a specific show be recordings and scheduled and then coming airings. You can find out what was recorded a lot easier in the library menu. And the coming airings has both the scheduled and unscheduled episodes. Now you need 2 extra clicks just to accomplish something useful.

Yes just noticed last night this update came and was installed. Saw some of the new features and I like them. Probably take me a few days to a week to sort out all of the changes and evaluate how they are working etc. I will comment if I see something worth mentioning.

Thanks for the continued software support and working on fixes and improvements!

What is the purpose of starting every tab’s default view to “Recently Recorded”? If I’m entering the TV Shows section, it’s apparent that I don’t want a show that’s just finished recording or I would have went to that tab instead. Needing to switch to “A to Z” is at minimum 3 extra clicks to enter the prior default view.

On a different note, title deletion seems to have a big of an issue. I deleted a show, waited, and nothing happened. About 2 minutes later I decided to back out of the series and it ws gone.

Overwall, the app seems a little faster and more responsive. Keep up the good work and please let us pick the default view here and on the other apps that are set up the same weird way.

Edit:
@TabloTV … Using “Manage Episodes” and “Delete All” seems to be worse. It took 6 minutes for two different programs with only one episode each to disappear from my all tv shows tab!

The article refers to the Fire TV Box devices which I assume means Fire TV ‘Cube’ devices instead?

If so, well, my Fire TV Cube first generation devices did install this version 1.2, and it seems to be working. I admit that running the Tablo TV app on my old Fire TV Cube first generation devices is a bit slow.

Anyway, THANK YOU so much for the ‘Coming Soon’, with the ‘Conflicts’ menus.

I’m still patiently waiting for a feature that’s available in the Samsung Tablo TV app where it shows the episode’s description after I select the episode prior to playing it.

BTW, I was able to sideload the older version of this app on my Windows Subsystem for Android, and it worked, except it required the Amazon App Store to be available on the device and displayed a popup that made the app unusable. Too bad it looks for the Amazon app store as a requirement because it looked like it would have work.

I wonder if that’s because you grabbed the FireOS version. See if you can download the regular android one. I just side loaded 1.1.6 for FydeOS the other day and it worked great. The latest release is not available yet, but the prior version continues to work very well.

You like to try things Here is one for you.

I have a 2-tuner. So I requested 3 recordings all 1 hour long, all starting at the same time. using the live tv menu. I wanted to test the conflicts menu under library. So when I scheduled number 3 I backed out to the main menu and entered library/conflicks… I unscheduled the 3 scheduled recorded and returned back.

I ended up on the main menu. I couldn’t re-enter the library menu unless I moved off of library say to home and then moved back on. it may have stuck in conflicts or was on the main menu library which was high lighted. Or maybe when I tried to move back into the library it only entered conflicks

Who knows.

Above the main menu(library, home, live, etc) is what appears to be the title of a show that has an episode recorded. But it doesn’t appear to represent the show that had the most recent episode recorded. Or the show that had the most recent episode played. There doesn’t appear to be any indication of what episode it is referencing. And when you click on it it just starts playing an episode. Nice

My screen shows 6 failed recordings. But when I select that, it shows 0

I tried both the regular Google Play store Android version and the Google TV version on the Windows Subsystem for Android as well when I tried this last month, but they didn’t run at all.

It also looked like the Android version for both the mobile Android device and the Google TV device appeared to be identical apk’s. If so, it’s too bad that they don’t let us enable the TV screen GUI instead of just the mobile GUI on Android tablets, but I’ll bet it’s because of the touchscreen interface.

Try grabbing it from APK pure…

When are you going to address the loading errors with the app?

I posted in November 2023 about the issue of the guide not loading properly when set to favorites. Link to Post

You responded:

It’s been 9 months and the only change is instead of a blank line, it shows “programming not available”

I shouldn’t need to switch from favorites to all, scroll down and watch it load, scroll back up, switch back to favorites; just to use a basic feature. There’s got to be something in the app’s code where it’s timing out quicker when set to favorites than all. This couldn’t be found in 9 months?

As for this library update, my biggest issue is you’ve made the thumbnails & text smaller. it’s usable at a distance on my large living room TV, but on my smaller bedroom TV its not great.

Hi Fox,

This is on the failure screen, correct? Also, do you recall deleting any failed recordings recently?

No, on the Library page. I haven’t deleted any failed recordings for a while.

Overall, vastly improved library view and I especially love the conflict management but a couple of things:

  1. I kinda prefer the old vertical Poster setup instead of horizontal, maybe give us some view options for both styles or maybe even a more condensed list/details view?
  2. Remember the last used sorting method, if I want a show page to show by default by season, remember that.
  3. Just like the previous UI also, the Latest view lags really hard and eventually makes the whole app crash when scrolling through when you have a LOT of items. Would be better to at most show like maybe 3 rows a day and then replace the 4th item on the last row with a “View More” button taking you to a separate page to view the rest to prevent lag.
  4. To add to the above also, it currently cuts off entirely after so many days (presumably to help reduce said lag) so like if you have recordings from like 2 months ago and you are trying to watch in chronological order from when aired, you basically have to look up a schedule online and manually navigate between each show since the Latest view doesn’t go back that far. Again might be nice here to have a “Show More” button to take you to a “Page 2/3/etc” to go as far back as your recordings go instead of arbitrarily cutting it off after a week or two.

And well not related to the new library view but I’m not going to stop bringing this up until it happens :joy: Playback speed controls please

Let’s face reality. In the library/all-recording menu for a specific show it displays the newest recorded to the oldest. If I record a whole season of the mask singer so I can binge watch it over a gloomy weekend, do I really want to start with the last show and know the winner before I watch the first show. But with the ridiculous implementation of a ribbon display that on a 65 inch TV only displays 4 shows, I need to move all the way to the right to access the oldest.

I noticed this too that it defaults to ‘Recently Recorded’ view, but they have a button next to it for ‘All Seasons’ which displays the seasons in episode order.

Bro… I didn’t pay attention to this. @TabloTV – This is a nightmare! PLEASE change the order from oldest (by Season/Episode) in the Shows recorded series!

(Edit: removed mention of AppleTV)

On legacy and gen 4 roku it’s lowest(oldest) episode number to newest.

Where this really goes of the rails is with sports such as NCAA and NFL football. I have a 2-tuner and during college football saturdays I stack the 3 games on CBS and FOX back to back and use extend live.

So what happens is the firetv Stick likes to display the thumbnails(which are quite useless especially for sports) from newest to oldest game. To reach the oldest saturday game I d-pad right 4 games at a time. Thus it is often that the newest game thumbnail exposes the ending score of the previous game. Just what I want the thumbnail for game 3 that might include the ending score of game 2.

Of course it’s hard to explain how the extend live chage to 30 minutes even works without spending time adjusting end times. At which point you have to ask yourself why is there a global default that 10% of the time doesn’t work.

I have a few shows taped (yeah, showing my age!) where I’m trying to gather the full series so that I can start from the beginning. With this new layout, 25-40eps per season it’s gonna be a b*tch to scroll over every time I want to watch an episode!

This is a ridiculous layout.
