Tablo and Roku questions

I have a tablo 2.2.42 that connects to my Roku 2 via a USB cable.
My question is; if I get a newer tablo that doesn’t need a cable to connect to my streaming device, will I lose my legacy status on my account?
Also, are there any streaming devices that have a USB port other than the Roku 2 that I have now?

I really don’t understand your first statement since no Tablo has ever connected to a Roku or any other streaming box via a USB cable.

Regarding your question, you need to think of the Legacy Tablos as being from a different company than the new 4th Gen Tablos primarily because they are two different companies with the same name. I’m not sure what legacy status you are concerned with losing since the 4th Gen Tablo has a free guide subscription included with the product. But to answer your question, if you purchase a new 4th Gen Tablo you will have to sign up for a new user account.

Thank you for your information, I did do some research and found the same info. I’ve had my tablo since before people had to have a subscription for the guide, I had paid a one time fee to have life time access to it.
I do have a cable going from my tablo to my Roku device, like I said, I’ve had it for a long time.

Your Roku just has an HDMI cable, which goes to your tv set. Your Tablo has a small hard drive attached to its USB port.

Getting a new Tablo won’t void your current Tablo’s data service plan. A 4th Generation Tablo account is completely separate from it, so you can register to it without fear of losing your legacy subscription.

Our 4th Generation Tablo DVR is a network-connected model. You’d need to hook it up to your router. From there, any compatible streaming device on your network should be able to access your Tablo.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Loti, because I knew I wasn’t crazy.
