Amazon is selling the 2 tuner 4G for $70! I just bought a second 4G as a second/backup unit as I’ve been so pleased with my first one. I thought about getting a 4 tuner model but recalled a statement somewhere that splitting the signal 4 ways might just drop it below the threshold reception strength in my difficult location.
I’m 50 miles from the antenna farm and don’t see any difference in reception between my dual and quad 4G or the quad legacy. Yes, I have 3 Tablos.
a 4 tuner with integral 1:4 splitter will yield the same signal strength at the tuner front ends as with two 2 tuner Tablos with an external 1:2 splitter to feed the two tablos…
“with an external 1:2 splitter to feed the two tablos…”
Makes sense, but I wasn’t planning on doing this.
If I use it as a second system, I’d use a separate antenna.
There is always the tablo factory refurb store:
Refurbished Over The Air DVRs | Tablo – Tablo TV
but there are benefits to Amazon purchase as well.
I have 2 tablos, a 2 and a 4 tuner. Bought the 4 tuner after finding out I often run out of tuners using a solo 2 tuner.
FWIW I could not get both tablos to receive the same channels when I fed them from one antenna through a splitter. I then connected each tablo to its own (indoor) antenna, since then no problems with reception. The two antennas are located next to each other.
YMMV
True but the model they are shipping is “Shipped by Amazon”, “Sold by TabloTV”.
Same price as the refurb, this brand new Tablo 4G seems to be the best of both worlds!
