Hi all,
I’m new to Tablo and to this forum.
I use Tablo just to get access to OTA channels from all my TV’s. I use Amazon Fire TV sticks 4K Max on all of them. The image quality is extremely good, especially compared to what I was getting from an Amazon Recast.
The problem I have is that every time I go to the Tablo App from any other App, it takes a lot of buffering, first to open the App, then to go to the channel list, then to open the desired channel. It is not all the time, sometimes it goes through quickly, but most of the time it takes 30-40 seconds. Occasionally I have to restart the Fire TV stick.
Another complaint is that when the channel view is set to Favorites, the program information is shown only for the first few channels in the list. For the rest it just says “Programming not available”
I read somewhere (Reddit I believe) that Tablo was going to fix that with the recent update but unfortunately it did not. Or I am doing something wrong
Welcome to “TabloTown”!
I have had some slowness when opening the Roku APP recently. I havent rebooted my Tablo since like Feb. (beyond firmware updates) I finally went to my rack and did a hard reboot. It seemed to fix it.
I’m not a fan or rebooting my devices.
Also you can confirm that you have good wireless signal from your FireStick to your Tablo? If you download inSSIDer on your laptop, it will show you what the signal is around your home. Anything below -73 is the start of low signal.
Thank you for your response. The Tablo is hardwired to my LAN. And the Firestick is connected to WiFi but it has always worked fine. Just to do an experiment I switched from the 2.4GHz wifi (40MB/sec) to the 5 MHz (400MB/sec) to see if there is any change in performance
The problem with Favorites and the program guide has been reported since January 2024 and is still not fixed.
I was told by support it was fixed in July but I showed them the problem still exists. It is likely a very simple cache issue but for some reason Tablo engineering is not fixing it.
