Oh, one thing I forgot to ask…
What streaming device are you using? And, have you tried it on more than one device? Have you tried watching those recordings on your phone?

I usually use a Roku streaming stick, but see the same delay with the Tablo app on my Android tablet. I suspect that the disk file has the delay in it, as was demonstrated with files uploaded by ArtSmart. I’d like to pull it and plug it into a computer, as you suggest, but I’m hesitant to do so if Tablo might be sensitive to any changes made. I’ve seen OS’s add files, like thumbnails, to drives that get mounted. Has anyone any experience to share with plugging a Tablo external drive into some other computer?
I you search the forum I think you will find several threads about hard drive removal and how to play recordings using some different app…but most do not end well. Tablo is very picky about hard drive removal and restoring. I think KGBnut got it right in saying with Tablo SSD is not the drive type that works best.
If you want to explore your SSD:
Completely power-down your Tablo. Remove the SSD. It is in a Linux format, EXT4. If you have a Linux computer it will read it just fine. If not, you may need to install tools onto your computer to read EXT4. I know that it can be done on Windows, but I have never done it. I’ve never tried it with a Mac either, but I would be careful. Mac is notorious for adding hidden files onto everything you plug into them. I don’t know if that will impact anything when you try to return the drive to the Tablo.
Once you open the drive you will have to hunt around. The file names and folder names are seemingly random characters. It may take a while to find the show and episode you want to look at. Once you find them, they are stored in short clips, only a few minutes each. They are labeled as .ts files, but I think it is an MPG format. Many video players will play them. I know that VLC Media Player will. Be careful to not make any changes to the drive.
Plug the drive back into your Tablo before you power the Tablo back up.
This issue seems to have disappeared at some point. It’s been weeks, maybe months, since I’ve seen this issue that used to plague Houston’s KTRK 13.1 HD especially, but other HD channels as well on rare occasions.
Maybe KTRK fixed its broadcast codec or Tablo fixed its software. I’m just glad I haven’t seen this problem in quite awhile.
Nonetheless, I still have all my important KTRK recordings starting 10 minutes early, just in case it happens again. That would allow me to restart the recording if it’s out of sync from the start.
Thanks to @TabloTV @TabloEngineering @TabloSupport if they fixed the problem.
