I just purchased a Table 4th Gen - 4 tuner and am overall pretty happy with it. It installed and works fine on my TVs but it gets stuck at “Verify Zip Code” screen when I try to install it on my Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet. It knows the zip code I am in and the country, but the NEXT bar at the bottom never turns blue so I can head to the next screen. Per Tablo support, I rebooted the router and wifi and uninstalled/reinstalled the app countless times. I even reset my tablet to factory defaults and started from scratch (and installed all software updates) but I still have the same issue.
@TabloTV Regarding the Gen4 Tablo - it seems like I’m having the same issue on an Android phone - stuck at “Verify your ZIP Code” prompt and clicking Next on this screen does nothing. I’ve soft reset the Gen4 device and restarted my network and still nothing. I even tried airplane mode on my phone with wifi enabled, but nothing.
Can you please help find the root cause and publish a workaround until a fix can be applied to the firmware?
@HGR1965 - I just uninstalled are reinstalled the app, and when it asked for Location, I selected Only This Time to allow the app to use my location (for which there is a manual option). The manual ZIP Code option didn’t work, but I was finally able to set up the app on my Android phone this way. Keep in mind that I’ve had the Gen4 app set up on my Android phone for months and it suspiciously made me re-initiate the app this morning.
Anything to do with tablo app setup on an android device is a crap shoot. You might check in setting to see if location is turned off. I suspect that even though you are entering a zip code tablo might still access some of these services.
The app appears to work on Android without location permissions and there’s a manual process to enter the ZIP Code. It just seems like the manual process doesn’t work 100%.
The question isn’t whether the app will work without location turn on. Mine does on a samsung S6 lite with android 13/14. But I couldn’t make it through the app setup without the location turned on. App setup just died for me after entering the zip with location turned off.
Of course legacy was even worse with the setup bailing with unknown error while collecting SSID’s.
Thank you all for the suggestions! I checked and double-checked the settings inthe tablet and everything was fine (location enbabled).
I deleted and re-downloaded the app many, many times. If you search for the app in the app store it seemingly gives you multiple choices (Table App, Tablo App for Frire TV, etc). I stasrted to click on the different links and eventually got lucky with one of them (I don’t recall which one worked) but, with persistence, I got it to work.
Now that everything is working, I’m overall pretty happy with Tablo (I’m coming from Amazon Fire TV Recast).
Hi. Can you tell me what generation Fire HD Tablet 10 and what version of the Tablo app you’re using. My tablet is Generation 13. I finally got it to work past the Zip Code page using app version 1.1.3. Now it connects but I only I get sound, no video. Thank you.
I also had the problem with the 4th generation Tablo cellphone app not proceeding past entering my zip code. I was using the app on my Android cellphone, not an Amazon tablet, but experienced the same symptoms as HGR1965 and wysiwyggin. I also tried all the suggestions offered here and by Tablo support without success. What finally worked for me was taking my cellphone out onto my porch, which has Wi-Fi access and, I believe importantly, a clear view of the sky. From there I logged out of and back into my Tablo account and the app accepted my zip code entry and connected to Tablo. I believe having a clear view of the sky and therefore access to GPS satellites allowed my cellphone to more quickly provide my location to the app. Prior to this while I was still inside the app would always hang at zip code entry even though I had verified my phone had “High accuracy” location mode turned on, allowed location access to the app, and was correctly providing my location to Goggle maps. You should probably wait for a few minutes after moving to a location with a clear view of the sky before logging into the app as it usually takes a little while to acquire the satellites. Worked for me, hope it works for everyone else that has the problem.
